Chapter 7

<Kirito's POV>

After mine and Asuna's dance we headed back to the church for a good rest. We agreed to sleep in a little as tomorrow we had nothing planned, so we decided we would go to Eugeo and watch him chop down the tree, and I had also decided I would like to try - but with the axe. My sword would be dangerous unless we find another one that is not filled with darkness and despair. Anyway I entered the room and took of my new jacket and took of my trouser and placed it on the bed and wore some shorts. Asuna had gone elsewhere to change out of her dress and into her night gown.

Now that I think about... Asuna has done so much for me in the week I've been here. She helped me settle into the environment. Taught me the basics of this village. Taught me a few basic sacred arts and showed me her rapier skills. And now she is taking care of my clothes and health. She is just perfect. I mentally sighed as I have no chance with her - she's way out of my league.

I looked in the mirror and saw my cut on the face and on my calf. The one on my calf was nasty but I hardly felt it. Asuna then entered the room in her night gown but he hair was still the same but I preferred it that way. She then picked up my trousers and placed it on her bedside table in a fold and she sat down on her bed. "So what were you thinking?" Asuna says as she fills a glass of water.

"Eh?"

"I saw that look on your face - you were deep in a thought... so what were you thinking off?" She asked again. Well actually it was about her and love I guess I remember something my sister told me, and I've lived by those words but haven't been able to find it myself.

"It's actually something my sister told me when I was a kid... and I don't know why but that thought came back to me right now..." I say thinking about the quote. "Go on then tell me... what did she tell you?" Asuna asks. I then clear my throat ready to an imitation of my sister from when she told me. "My sister said: You see Kirito, in my most inexhaustible opinion love is the best weapon one can have to drive away the darkness. Also one of the best remedies one can have when ones mental state is shattered" I finished saying and Asuna was just staring at me.

"Wow... I can't help but think how true that is... love is truly the power in which a person is motivated" Asuna says now sitting up right against her bed frame. "Yeah well... it'll be hard to find that one love that will be the weapon and remedy" I sigh and look out the window. "Don't we all think the same but I know the right one will come or has already come but you just have to be patient I guess" Asuna says. I didn't get what she meant when she said it has already come. Did she find her love?

"Wait so your saying you've found years?" I ask and I see her blush redder than a tomato. "N-No... well I'd rather not say at this stage. But all I was trying to imply is that you have to be patient to find your right one" She says and I nod in response understanding now what she meant. I then let out a yawn and get onto my couch ready to sleep.

"Hey Kirito... would you mind sleeping with me?" I hear Asuna say and now we both blush red. I didn't know what to say exactly and stuttered. "You don't have to but I really felt safe and comfortable when I slept with you earlier" Asuna says, and not going to lie sleeping in her comfort was amazing. It's the best sleep I've ever had since coming out of the dark territory.

"Uh sure..." I reply and walk over to the side which she wasn't on and slide in next to her. She then switches of the light and faces towards me. She smiles and then wraps her arms around me and rests her head on my chest. You could probably see my red face despite the darkness. I then wrap my arms around her and close my eyes.

Is this love that I was looking for?

<A month later>

A month had passed since the anniversary of the town. But nothing major had happened since. I spent most of this time helping Eugeo whack the tree with the strongest axe in Rulid. However I felt I was hopeless but Eugeo's call made him attached to the tree. I guess we'd have to finish his call first before I think about setting out for the central city... but would I be able to take these guys with me? I didn't want to force any decisions on them but I could not stay without them especially Asuna.

"Hey Kirito... lets take a break we've been chopping the tree for a few hours now. But I gotta say I'm impressed by your technique... for an amateur no offence" Eugeo says. I merely shake my head to indicate it was fine. We then both sit against the tree trying to catch our breath. I then turned to Eugeo. "Hey is there anything in the Taboo that says we can only use axe to chop this tree?" I ask and this got him thinking for sure.

"Uh no I don't think so... it does not say... but what else is stronger than an axe? It's main purpose is cutting wood anyway" Eugeo says. "Well is there any sword or object with the level 48 or above?" I ask as my sword was level 48 the highest that I know of. He then looks at me. "Well the highest sword known across this world is level 47 and that is the <Blue Rose Sword> but that is in the mountain range north and no one but the hero can wield the blade" Eugeo explains. So the Blue rose sword is the highest with a level 47. That means I have the highest level sword in the world. I'd be able to wield this sword but we'd need to get it first.

"I think you should take me one day to the mountain as I believe I can wield it..." I say and this causes him to look at me and laugh. "Sorry but I admire your confidence but no one can because it is very heavy and you must have some swordsman experience. And that has to be of the highest order" Eugeo says but I was fairly confident. "If you aren't confident then nothing is possible. Trust me Eugeo I will be able too" I say with determination.

"Alright, fine we shall head there tomorrow first thing in the morning so make sure you are awake on time" He says and I fist bump him in response. "Where are you guys going tomorrow?" A voice asks and here comes Alice and Asuna with a food basket and a picnic mat. Asuna rolls out the mat and we all sit on it as Alice brings out the food. Her food is the best thing I have ever eaten. Honestly it's a gift from god her skills.

"So what were you guys talking about? Heading Where tomorrow?" Asuna asks looking at me then Eugeo.

"Well Kirito here thinks he can wield the Blue Rose so I'll take him to the cave tomorrow to see if he can" Eugeo explains and I see the girls give me a look and then sigh. "Of course it's just Kirito being himself... we'll come with you guys as we need to get some ice to help preserve the towns food for much longer... I think that is the best solution for now" Alice says.

"Alright it's sorted then... tomorrow we head for the caves!"
