Missing You

A 6-month old baby
Finally being weened
Off of that soothing thing
The pacifier
Crying profusely as you wait
Believing as always
Mommy will give it to you
This time it doesn't come

A child lost in Walmart
Calling for her mother
Through the maze called aisles
Tiptoeing at first
Fear is followed with adrenaline
You become a track star
For the never ending search
But you never find her

A freshman in college
Reminiscing in their dorm
Scents of fish frying
The sound of mac and cheese
Being stirred in the pot
Observing as red pepper flakes
Get added to the broccoli
Yet you can't eat it

This is how it feels
To be missing you
