Holy crab cakes.
Wow.
Are you kidding me? He looks like a freakin Greek God! Soft waves of black hair, cascading over his forehead, small locks wisping down the back of his neck. His golden skin offsets his bright green eyes perfectly. His jawline looks like it could cut knives, and his perfect mouth is lifted into a small smirk, growing wider by the second.
He's wearing a tight fitted black tee that doesn't leave much to the imagination, clinging to all the right places. My eyes, seemingly of their own accord, travel slowly up and down his body, drinking in the fine specimen of a man in front of me.
It's only a few moments later that I snap out of my trance, and I realise just how obvious my staring has been. My eyes meet his and I notice that his smirk has grown into a full blown shit-eating grin.
Well, Crap.
His piercing green eyes are twinkling with amusement as he looks at me, and at this point I'm fairly sure my face looks like a freakin lobster. I whip my head around to face the front of the classroom, looking at anywhere but him. Oh geez, that was embarrassing. I silently beg that he doesn't acknowledge what I just did.
"Like what you see?" he drawls, leaning back on his chair.
It takes a few moments to register that he's speaking. My mouth opens and closes as I attempt to regain the ability to speak. His low chuckle snaps me out of my trance and I somehow manage to formulate a coherent response.
"Yeah, if I liked trash."
"Well", he leans in closer and places his elbows on my desk, "If I'm trash, wanna take me out?" he places his chin in his hands and shoots me an award-winning wink. I roll my eyes skyward, but I can't suppress the small smile that worms its way onto my face. Even I have to admit, that was pretty smooth.
His eyes light up when he sees my smile.
"Did the sun come out? Or did you just smile at me?"
I make a show of looking pointedly out the window and then back at him.
"It's raining." I respond dryly.
"Yeah, raining men" he retorts, flexing his biceps.
I scoff, "Men? Yeah right, more like a pubescent teenage boy".
"Boy?" he says incredulously, "Have you seen these guns?" he gestures to his bulging biceps.
"Yes, Mr Hale, we can all see your guns", a dry voice from behind drawls.
I wince as Mr Peterson gazes down at us in contempt, apparently our conversation had carried.
Aiden turns and smirks at Mr Peterson, and his icy glare hardens, "Well, Mr Hale, you can take your guns and Miss Winters with you to detention after school, and continue this riveting conversation there, where the rest of us don't have to listen to it."
It is then that I notice that every student has their eyes trained on Aiden and I, and my face blushes bright red for the second time today. Grace is staring at me open mouthed with a piercing stare that says I will most certainly be discussing every detail with her later, and Lottie chuckles quietly beside her.
I nod meekly, and after Mr Peterson turns away, I shoot a glare in Aiden's direction.
"Thanks a lot." I hiss.
"Anytime gorgeous." He winks at me, obviously indifferent to the punishment.
"I'm serious!" I growl, "this goes on my permanent record, and not to mention, I'm supposed to be laying low and staying out of the spotlight this year"
He raises his eyebrows, and regards me with careful curiosity, "Why?"
My eyes widen and panic starts to bubble inside me, he doesn't know, of course he doesn't know, it's his first day. "Oh, uh, no reason really, I just, um, don't like attention that's all." Wow. Was that even a sentence?
His eyes narrow and I can tell he doesn't believe me. I don't even know why I'm bothering to make up excuses, he'll find out soon enough.
Thankfully he doesn't press the issue and I let out a relieved sigh. If he does find out, it certainly won't be me that tells him.
I scramble to gather my things when the bell rings so that Aiden won't ask anymore questions, Grace and Lottie fall into step beside me and we're nearly out of the classroom when I hear someone shouting.
"Winters!" I whip around to find Aiden standing there smirking at me, "So, I didn't catch your name" he says, and cocks his head to the side.
"That's because I didn't throw it." I respond with a sarcastic grin.
I quickly spin back around and start dragging Lottie and Grace down the hallway. I can feel his gaze burning into the back of my head, and just before we round the corner I hear him shout.
"See you in detention, gorgeous!"
