Mare, she is not human, she is not an alien, she is not a spirit, she is nothingness... A mere wish, a mere thought, an existence that breaks the boundaries of life and death...
Born from a single wish of a girl on the verge of death, Mare came into existence to rend the nightmares of many worlds, under the watchful eyes of Hikoboshi and Orihihime, Mare seeks to fulfill the wish that she heard. During her initial appearance Mare found a dead child with her sister crying by her side, Mare's instincts kicked in and with her Ephemeral Scythe she reaps the very reason of the girl's cries by swinging it down on the crying girl...Which in this case was the death of her sister... Mare's powers broke the boundaries of life and death, it broke the laws of logic and created a miracle, the blood of the dying girl that had been spilled turned into crimson lights, her wounds healed, and her heart began to beat again, she breathes... She lives...
Mare found out that day... Nightmares, they were the troubles that plagued the hearts of all, memories of pain, regret, anything that would drive someone into a void of darkness...
The girl that was crying felt surprised... As the scythe crossed down her body, she didn't feel pain, rather, she never saw Mare, or how Mare do it all, she fell unconscious and slept with her sister, soon after, the girls awoke... The only bewilderment that was left is that they could not recall what they were doing there... The two girls left the scene without much trouble and no memory of any incident...
However...
Mare felt shaken, she felt the horror that the crying girl had... the feeling of losing someone, the feeling of lost and hopelessness... This is Mare's power... This is Mare's Mission... To rend the nightmares of the world to take them as her own... These nightmares call to her, and she has no choice but to take them... Who gave her this mission however? She could only think of one person... the girl who made a wish to her...
Mare was traumatized, but she held on to her scythe, this is her purpose and this is what she must accomplish, she hides herself under the light and shadows making herself intangible becoming one with light and shadow while traveling through many worlds and reaping multiple nightmares under the blanket of the night while she simply watch life go on as she cannot do anything in the day. Mare Ephemeral the Reaper casts herself as an aid to those who suffer from the pains of the heart.
