"Excuse me Miss Price, visit times are over. I must ask you to leave, our patient needs to rest." - A nurse entered the room, waking me up from my half-asleep state.

"Excuse you, "miss", I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying here, next to my... my friend." - I looked at her with the most threatening grimace my exhausted face could create.

"I'm sorry, only family is allowed with patients after visit hours, miss." - The nurse said with a forced smile on her face. She stood her ground, but so did I.

"Listen up here lady, I'm not going to leave Rachel all alone in her time of need."

"I'm sorry, but it's not my job to decide the rules of the hospital." - The woman seemed sympathetic, but at the same time, extremely annoyed.

A Leave Rachel / D Convince the nurse to let you stay

"Why don't you decide to fuck off then lady?" - I snapped back, crossing my arms.

Author's note: In this story, backtalking won't always have a positive effect.

"Listen up, Miss Price" - The woman said with an angered face, clearly done with my shit, but still remaining composed with a sweet smile. - "I can't do anything to help you, even though I want to. And you're starting to make me change my mind. I would suggest you leave if you don't want security to be the one who forces you out."

I realised I was no longer sitting on Rachel's bed and was somehow practically within punching range of the nurse. She smelled like a hospital even more than the hospital did. I was really tempted to give that bitch a taste of my right hook, but I realised that I wasn't in the mood to get caught by the police. Also, the rational side of me reminded me that the nurse was just doing her job.

"Fine, you win this time, miss..." - I looked at her nameplate. - "Myers...?" - I stood there dumbfounded, realising that the poor woman's daughter Samantha was in the other room. A part of me felt guilty, but I still stomped angrily out of the room. I looked back at Rachel, who somehow slept through my "disagreement" with Samantha's mother.

"The visiting hours are from 9AM to midnight, just so you know." - The nurse said to me while I was leaving. I looked at my phone. The time was 12:45PM. That woman really waited that long to tell me to fuck off.

I opened my messages. A text from my mom. She actually decided to think of me for once. I decided to do the honors of going home for once. I jumped in my truck, hoping it still had enough gas to get home. It didn't, so I stopped at a station to get some. Sadly, I only had a few bucks on me, so I spent them all on gas. Yet another reason to go back home. I prayed on the engine gods that my car would survive until I got back home, since I started hearing a weird sound coming from the front of my car.

I somehow survived and parked my car in front of the house, essentially blocking the door for David the douche's muscle car. I opened the door of the truck, slamming it shut without locking it. Of course, it's hard to lock a car without the key. I took out the marker I always keep in my pocket and scribbled down: change car lock.

I creeped up the stairs at home, luckily not waking up the mooch that lives off my mom or my desperate mother herself. I quickly creeped in my room and dropped dead as soon as I plopped on my bed.

"CHLOE! CHLOE! WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU!" - I heard a scream. I opened my eyes and jumped up. I wasn't in my bed. I looked around. I was in the forest.

"WHY DID YOU TELL ME CHLOE?!?" - I saw a tree that was still alive in the dead forest. I walked around it, finding a tied down Rachel on the other side. Her face reminded me of the day when the forest fire happened. - "I WISH I STILL TRUSTED MY DAD! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO TELL ME? WHY DID YOU RUIN IT ALL FOR ME!" - the tree suddenly started burning, and Rachel continued yelling. She pushed against the ropes that bound her to the tree, ready to pounce on me - "MY WHOLE LIFE IS FALLING APART BECAUSE OF YOU" - Flames covered Rachel's body suddenly, suprising me and knocking me down. I froze, suddenly unable to move or talk. I could only hear Rachel yelling and crying, forcing me to start crying too. Smoke covered the vicinity and suddenly, Rachel's screams stopped. Suddenly, i could move again. As I tried to stand up, Rachel was gone. I slipped and fell to the ground, but a familliar hand grabbed me.

"You have to face the consequences of what you did Chloe. Don't let Rachel lose anything else. She's been through enough. " - I saw an exhausted face, covered in black tears. It was Sera. She took a huge drag of her cigarette and dropped it on the ground. As she exhaled, she disappeared in a cloud of smoke and black feathers, which started choking me. I tried taking a breath, but I couldn't. The world around me turned black. The last thing I saw was the shadow of a doe, which dissipated in the wind, followed by an animalistic scream.

I woke up back in my room, my face digging straight into my pillow. I jumped up and threw it off as I gasped for air and started coughing. As I realised it was just a nightmare, I took a deep breath and all my tensed up muscles suddenly relaxed.

"It was just a nightmare Chloe, nothing from it is real" - I told myself, and I was right for the most part. The only thing left from that dream was the tears streaming down my cheeks. I needed to wash my face immediately.

I ran to the bathroom, hoping the Moochman and Miss Desperate wouldn't see me. Luckily, they were downstairs, talking about something. I washed my face with cold water, waking me up more than any glass of coffee could. I stared a myself in the mirror.

"Yeah, that lock of hair makes me look like even more of a badass than normal." - I admired the blue dye covering my hair. - "I should dye the entirety of my hair in blue" - I took the bottle of dye from the plastic box, which was mainly inhabited by all my pirate gear. Suprisingly, Mr. 24/7 Surveillance hadn't thrown it away yet. But before I considered getting down to the duty of making myself look even more like an anime character, my stomach rumbled. I was starving. I hadn't eaten since rushing Rachel to the hospital yesterday.

I didn't want to see my mom. I especially didn't want to see David. I hated the fact that that asswipe was just moving in and making himself at home at my house, trying to take the place of my father. I took out my phone out of my back pocket. It was 8:30. I didn't have time to stop to get grub, so I decided the annoyance is worth it. As I put my phone back, I felt the photo that David gave me earlier. I thought about it a bit. Maybe I could give that guy a chance. Just maybe. If he gives me a reason to.

I went down the stairs quietly, then turned around, heading to the refrigerator to grab some milk without passing directly through the lovebirds' vicinity. Then as I passed the dining table I heard a loud "YES" from the kitchen. I turned around to see my mother hugging David, who was standing on one knee.

"He really just did that. That fucker proposed to her. He will be in our life forever." - I thought to myself. I didn't know what to do. - "So I guess that's it? My mother doesn't give a flying fuck about me or my dad." - I knew that was not true. My mother has gone through a lot. - "Maybe I should let it be?"
