The little bell on the door rang yet again, and, plastering a smile over his tired face, Jimin turned to face the new customer.
He would make Jisung do it, but Jisung had left about an hour earlier to go home from his shift, so it was just him up front.
His eyes were met with a pouty-lipped, blue-haired boy. He wore sky blue skinny jeans with an oversized sweater, and a beanie sat on top of his hair. Something automatically made Jimin like this person, and his tired smile widened.
The boy tilted his head, studying the list of drinks.
"One caramel macchiato please."
Hearing his deep, surprisingly gentle voice, Jimin nodded and immediately grabbed a cup. He turned to the other with a marker poised over the cup, and asked for a name. For some reason, he was intrigued to hear what the other's name was.
"Yoongi," the boy answered.
Jimin nodded again, writing down the name.
Handing him a $10 bill, Yoongi muttered a quiet "keep the change," and went to go sit down near the window.
Yoongi, Jimin thought to himself, I'll remember that one. He didn't quite know why, but he knew he would.
He began to make the coffee, taking naught but 5 minutes to do so. Turning back around, Jimin looked for Yoongi, and, seeing the other on a laptop at a cozy sunlit table, brought the drink over.
"One caramel macchiato for you," Jimin said, setting the coffee down on the table to the side of the blue-haired boy's laptop.
Yoongi looked up, startled, and then smiled and thanked Jimin. Nodding for the nth time that day, Jimin flashed a bright smile and walked back to the counter.
His mind was on what he had seen on Yoongi's computer for a split second. It had looked like some type of recording. Did Yoongi do something with mus- Jimin cut himself off from thought of the laptop. It wasn't his business in the first place, besides, it's not like what the other did should matter to Jimin. He had only met him that day. To him, Yoongi was just another customer of the cafe. Still.. there was something about that blue-haired boy that made Jimin feel drawn to him for some inexplicable reason. Jimin himself didn't even understand it. He didn't even know Yoongi.
Bringing himself out of his thoughts, Jimin sighed and ran a hand through his hair. Glancing at the clock, Jimin realized with a huff of surprise that his shift had just ended. He went into the kitchen and took off his apron, calling to Jin.
"I'm going home now!"
Jin poked his head out form around the corner where he was making all the delicious pastries the cafe boasted.
"Okay. Your new shift starts tomorrow so you can get used to it before school actually starts. Stay safe!"
Nodding his understanding and replying with a cheerful "thanks!", Jimin made his way out of the kitchen. He grabbed a coffee for the way home, and began to walk to the door of the shop.
Pushing the doors open, he greeted Namjoon as he walked in for his shift.
"Jin's in back," Jimin winked, earning a blushing face from Namjoon.
Laughing, he walked towards his car. It hadn't been such a bad day after all.
