My pager beeps from one of the residents. My feet carries me out of the locker room and to one of the residents.

Her nametag says, " Pammy Wells." She begins to instruct each interns what to do. When she hands me a chart, Dr. Howard takes the chart away from me out of nowhere and looks at it.

" Excuse me, Dr. Howard. That chart belongs to Dr. Valley and you're back early from your meeting." She folds her arms.

" The meeting was holded up from the chief, and this chart now belongs to me. If you don't mind, I'll be taking some of your interns today with me."

He looks around and points at some of the interns.

"Uh, yes I do mind. They are my students that I chose from, so go pick other students from the other doctors."She clears her throat.

He ignores her. He grips his hand around my arm and demands," Let's go. There's going to be a trauma coming in.

He begins to walk and I turn around to see if the other interns were following us. They look at each other and slowly walk towards behind me.

I struggle for him to let go of my arm, but he grips even harder.

" Can you let go of me? You're hurting me." I murmur.

" Oh, sorry." He lets go of my hand and gives the chart to one of the other intern.

" Give this person the prescription that I wrote down and discharge him as soon as possible. We need a lot more beds for the trauma." He states.

He looks so.. cool when he gives order. I don't know why, but I am easily impressed by someone and I just can't help it. Maybe I got it from my dad. Or my mom.

We wait outside until one of the ambulance arrives. The paremedics tell information about the patient while the other interns and I help the patient get off of the ambulance. We push the cart while Dr. Howard repeats the same information he was given from the paremedics.

Another ambulance shows up and Dr. Wells walks outside to see what's happening. I feel kind of sorry that she doesn't have enough interns to help her. With a deep sigh, I continue to help the other interns with the patient.

My mouth slips," Do you think it'll be ok if I ask Dr. Howard to help Dr. Wells? She needs more help and it's kind of my fault for not being there."

The girl with blonde highlights responds," Are you crazy? I mean, I kind of feel bad for Dr. Wells, too, but I wouldn't ask if I were you. And how is it you're fault for not being there? He's the one who dragged you out. I don't mean to cause any rumors or anything, but I think Dr. Howard has a thing for you. "

  The other interns nods. What?

" I don't understand." Confusion flows through my mind.

The guy with a mohawk speaks," Don't play dumb. He's been treating you like your his soul mate or something. I'm kind of exaggerating, but you should know what I'm talking about. What she means is that, it's ok for the rest of us to ask. But for you, he'll probably freak out and start to blabber about staying by his sides and stuff. My opinion."

  The other interns nod again.

Is this true? Am I really being treated like his soul mate or something? The memory of him and I together flips through my mind like a book. The page where he put a bandage on me. The page when he looked terrifed when I had made a comeback after he told me off. The page where he gripped my hands and took me with him. My head is about to explode from all of this sudden pressure.

I shake my head from all of these thoughts to focus on my job. We push the the patient on the stretcher into a room. Dr. Howard instructs what each of the interns have to do on the patient.

When he turns to me, I had a feeling that he was going to tell me to stand by his hand or something like that.

  He doesn't.

He hands me the chart and tells me to update it after they finish preparing the patient for surgery.

I should have known better. I don't know where that feeling came from, but it's making me feel nervous because I don't know when that feeling is going to come back.
