The sun takes over the clouds, making my room shine. My eyelids can feel the warmth coming from the heat which forces me to open.
I do not want to go to work today. Especially after what happened yesterday. I sit up and drag myself out of bed. I stretch out my arms with a big yawn and check the time on my phone.
6:22 am. My usual alarm was 7, but I guess I can take a quick shower. I head down the hallway, trying to hold in the coldness of the wooden floor.
Dad must have forgotten to call the flooring men to make the floor carpet instead of floor.
I roll my head around while I grab my brush and the toothpaste.
While I was brushing my teeth, I heard two laughter coming from the living room. One was low pitch and the other was high pitch. Almost like a woman's laughter.
I walk down the hallway to the living room and spotted Pammy Wells on my purple love seat.
My purple love seat. She pauses her laughter and turns her head toward me.
" Oh, hey pumpkins. Good morning." He smiles while making scrambled eggs.
" Yeah. Morning. What are you doing here, Dr. Wells?" I just can't get over calling her Pammy.
" I didn't know you were the famous Lance Valley's daughter." She grins.
My dad isn't that famous. He works at a farm village, delivering fresh products to stores everyday. How can she possibly know him?
" What are you doing here? How do you know my dad? And how did you know he was even my dad?"
" We'll answer your questions when you finish getting ready for work." He looks up and down at me.
I look down and suddenly remembered I was in pajamas. I nod and return to my bathroom. I don't think I can take a quick shower with these questions filling up in my head.
I gargle the water and spit it out. I nearly run to my room and grab my kansas university tshirt. I put on a pair of skinny jeans and a hoodie. I comb my hair from my mirror, standing next to my doorway. I sneak a look out to see what she was doing.
Her conversation with my dad has suddenly turn serious. I put down my brush and take my purse.
As I walk in to their conversation, they suddenly change their subject.
I sit down on the dining table and began to pour the questions," How did you know my dad?"
" Well, the place where he works belongs to my family. We own a farm and we met a few times while he was growing our crops." She sits down across the dining table from me.
" Oh, but how did you know he was living here?" My dad sets down a plate filled with scrambled eggs and I start digging into my food.
" I remembered that your father's last name was Valley and I was wondering if you were related to him. So I drove here and rang the doorbell. Out of my surprise, I seriously didn't expect it to be the famous PH.D, Dr. Valley."
I was taken back for a second when she said PH.D. Only a very few people knew that my dad used to be a doctor which was including me and my grandparents. It was about to be just me until my grand mom ended up at my dad's hospital. She took it as if her life depends on it. My dad quickly refused when my grand mom asked if she can go tell her other friends and brag about her son being a doctor and I never really knew why he was being so secretive about it. But then, the retirement was the big change in my life because it soon became from a big mansion to a small house, kind of like a ranch.
