My body shivered in the sight of the lifeless corpse of my own son. The red stains of blood flashed me memories of the good times we had, when I stayed with him and Marie.
I missed Michael so much, suddenly a surge of emotions rose from my heart, my human instinct pressurized me to let out a whimpering cry. When someone tapped me from the back, I turned and gazed at Magnessun. He was holding me and covering me like a treasure chest from pirates looting them.
I couldn't wait to see, who had tried to kill us. Or maybe, only us. Maybe they where trying to the murder the Immortals...Wait that doesn't make sense, Maybe they wanted to capture us.
But, who knew we were Immortals? Maybe they thought we were experimenting illegally on humans. Even though I saw Michael lying dead, and the Port Investigation room into clutters of papers, Iron and dust, My emotions didn't overflow. I just felt sad. I could not feel pain, after I became an immortal. I couldn't imitate normal human actions.
I felt sorrow for a moment, and had flashes of our happy times. But as all of them was over now, I slowly crawled to him. I went near him, and checked the heartbeat, even though he was dead or dying. Michael was still breathing, he said 3 words before his death.
'You're my dad.' Which I already knew, but he had told me that he will never call me a dad until this messy mission is over. I knew he withdrew the promise.
I signed Magnessun to stand up. I peeped slightly to see whether the guy/people who shot us was there. But, No one was there.
I wondered what was the state of the other people in the port office. Wasn't anyone even alert to see the guys with guns? Why didn't anyone panic or run after there were gunshots with 'bams' and 'booms' of the gun? Why weren't the rescue team or the ambulances called? So many questions ran over my mind.
But the conclusion was simple, this was a planned murder, or rather a 'scare' to us. Maybe they wanted to warn us.
Who knew about our mission other than we 4 and the WRITE Institution?
I went to pull out the door, and check if there was any other person still standing there for us, still no sign of a human. I raced out suddenly, but there was no one on the floor. Except, a stray dog which stood on the tip of the steps.
I scurried down the stairs, Looking for anyone else. But all I saw was a massacre of people.
Everyone was killed.I was very shocked to see them all dead, I thought it was a dream. But the red flashes again gave me the happy memories of my son.
"What should I do, now?' " I hissed to the others.
"Stay calm Carl, let's find what happened. But before that we'll move to any place, where it is completely safe from shooting maniacs." Said Mike with a humorous tune.
All of us marched towards the front door, and rushed out. I saw Karrie's car as a total mess.
We had to go by some other way,.
"I have a bike, fellas.." Mike joked.
"Not funny, Mike. We are many in number, look around." He looked at the sailors of the Hawk who were unharmed.
'Carl, Did you leave your son there? Don't you care about him? You won't even consider to look at him for a second and understand his situation. All you did was a small whimpering squeal." Karrie addressed me as a cold-blooded human.
'I Know he has been shot, But I was nothing to him. I anyway abandoned him long ago. He never got a chance to meet me after he was at young age. If I wanted to carry him, bury him in graves. Weep and Mourn for him, I could have. But we have to hurry to a safe place. All our mysteries could be found by a stranger and can be used in evil ways....I wanted to save humanity, and here I have to stand and weep for my son. I Insist we focus for the greater good of the humanity. All we could do was nothing, we just found the cells which could be the clue of our immortality. And see a flock of carcasses, which is ironic to our goal of the mission' I let out what I was itching to say, and sighed with relief.
Karrie shuddered for a second, and calmed herself. She cleared her throat and said 'I am not saying you're heartless, Carl. But all I wanted is you to show some love towards your son. But I understand, now we can't stop for him and take a break until you have resolved your conflict of emotions.'
I understood what she meant clearly. I paced towards the lane in which he had raced with the F87 Coupé along with Karrie. The lane was as usual hoarded with cars and motorbikes. I could see no signs of the Rescue team or even the cops.
I wanted to call the cops, but We had found a way to escape from the Port Ikos.
We raced to the inside of the main Harbor.
Sean raced past us, holding a Mobile in his hand talking to someone seriously. Magnessun struggled and ran towards him, and slowly we all raced to the seashore.
Sean turned suddenly, after his call. ' I just hired a motorboat for all of us. Let's sail ahead.' Sean said with a satisfied face.
His face was like the this-is-what-we-got look. So that's our only choice, a motorboat hired by Sean.
'Um..Where are we sailing to?' Mike asked in a very puzzled tone.
'Relax, we're going to Venezuela. We're riding to Puerto La Cruz! So Chill!' Sean acted as if nothing happened back there.
Now we're going to the nearest position of the Amazon Rain-forest. And that will be great for us to adventure forward with this mission.
I knew we could regenerate, and even the RoseShark tree also had regenerating cells in them. The solution was getting near us. All our efforts are being laid down, What else could stop us now?
Suddenly there was a Whooshing sound, the sound of the bullets. It whooshed past us just like it did in the Investigation Room. There were many panics now, everyone ran in circles, bashed with each other. Everyone ran for their life, except us the never-dead guys.
The whoosh stopped, and I turned back to see signs of anyone who is armed.
I saw a glimpse of a man, wearing a white suit with a green sunglasses, he had a weird white hood. And was holding a kind of a light weight SMG( Sub-Machine Gun), he lowered his gun and gave a glaring smile towards me. The crowd dispersed and blocked my sight of him, I stopped and looked for him, peeping on all sides. He mysteriously vanished behind the crowd.
The grin remembered me something, The white suited man, whom I saw in Port Ikos when I chatted with Michael. He was the same man, I recognized him clearly.
'Hey Carl C'mon, any problem?' Sean paused for me.
'Uh, er-g-It's nothing, I just checked who shot us. And I found the same guy whom I met in Port Ikos.'
