"You got the best of me."
Another day, more torture. I was in the office yet again, working on some work Jin gave me. I snapped my head towards my phone when it started ringing, wiling when I saw the caller's ID. I picked up instantly while getting up, walking to the coffee machine and starting to prepare some coffee.
"Hey, TaeTae," I said with a smile, pouring coffee into the filter. "Hey, BunBun. I was wondering if you wanted to have lunch with me in a bit?" He asked, a smile covering my lips while I giggled at the nickname. "I don't know? Should I go with you?" I teased, hearing him groan which made me giggle again.
"Come on~ Don't tease~," He said with a sad voice, making me sigh happily. "Okay. I will." I replied, not hearing the door opened as Taehyung kept talking. I turned around with the coffee in hand, my eyes widening when I saw Jungkook there with a surprisingly sad look that he hid pretty well with a smile once I turned.
"Oh, Tae. I need to go now. Text me when you are here." I said quickly before hanging up, returning Jungkook's soft smile. "Hey, Jungkook. I didn't know you were here." I said with a nervous giggle. "I'm sorry I burst in the middle of your call." He replied, scratching the back of his neck.
I nodded silently, heading to my desk and placing the cup on the table as I took some papers in my hand. After a few minutes of silence, I saw a hand take the papers from me and pull them away, making me look up. "Jungkook, give it back," I said, trying to take them back just to see them move even back.
He held them behind him, a soft smirk on his lips. "Only if you come have lunch with me." He said. "I can't, I already have somewhere to go," I replied, stretching my arm out to take the papers. "I will go with you and however you are going with." He argued.
"Jungkook, why do you want so much to have lunch with me? You have Y/n to go have lunch with." I said angrily. I tried to reach them again while jumping, causing Jungkook to fall backward with me on top of him as we screamed. He groaned as I did as well, hearing him giggle while I tried to get up. He held me against him by wrapping his arm around my waist, my head snapping up to look at him with wide eyes.
"Why do you look and sound so much like her?" He whispered, one hand moving to my cheek. "You are just like the Y/n I knew before you left, Jina. Why? Why are you so much like her, Jina?" He asked with soft eyes staring into mine.
"I-I don't know what you are talking about, Jungkook." I said nervously, trying to get up again. "Jina, I miss the old Y/n. I feel like... I feel like she is not the Y/n I know. She acts like you, not Y/n." He chuckled, getting up and helping me up after. "I miss her a lot." He sighed, handing me the papers. "I will be in my office if you change your mind." He said quietly, my eyes following and staring hard into his back as he headed to the door and left.
I finally broke down, collapsing on my knees as I sobbed quietly. "Jungkook-ah... I wish I could tell you the truth. Tell you everything and go back to you." I whispered, clutching the papers to my chest.
My father's expensive hospital bills.
"Y/n, let me explain why I did this. Why we did this." My mother said as I tried to kick her out. "There is no need for explanations, mom. Just leave and don't come back." I said, tears threatening to fall.
"Your dad is ill. Terminally ill." She said with tears in her own eyes. I looked at her with wide eyes after hearing her words. "W-What?" I asked in shock. "Yes, he is. The only way to get the money was by marrying your sister. We knew you wouldn't beg Jungkook for money." She explained.
"Out. Now." I sobbed.
