The Fade

Chapter 2-The Witch

On the outskirts of the Kocari Wilds, not far from the village of Lothering, there is a mysterious women, who was trying to make a healing potion, but not just any healing potion, this potion is so advanced that it can heal even the most fatal wounds in battle. But no-one has been able to make it since ancient times and it has been driving the witch insane for years but she will not give up so easily.

"Hmmm, ok now I need to add five leaves of the ironbark tree, three drops of spider venom and one flower of Andraste, and maybe for the 3,457 time it might actually work" she says.

"Caw caw" came a response from a  crow that was asleep a few minutes ago on his little perch "WHAT?!" the witch shouts at the crow and then rushes over to her cabinet filled with many different ingredients for potion makeing and finds one ingredient was missing "Oh My Maker. One day I will KILL you Fir!" she says to her Familiar "caw" Fir replied "I don't care if the flower tastes good you can't keep eating all of my ingredients!. Now I have to go out and find more!" she says annoyance clear in her voice "caw" Fir replies with an apology "your not sorry at all are you?" She questions already knowing the answer "caw" cries Fir "I thought so" the witch remarks.

After gathering the necessary equipment she needed to find the flower of Andraste, she and Fir left the little cabin they shared and then ventured out into the Wilds.

After an hour of searching the witch and Fir find just what they were looking for.
A beautiful white flower with a vibrant red for the centre.
"Caw caw!" cries Fir "HELL NO!" the witch shouts "I AM NOT SPENDING ANOTHER HOUR SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER FLOWER WITH YOU!" "Caw caw" Fir replies "oh alright I'll find you a Crystal Grace on the way back" "caw" Fir cries happily whilst nibbling the witches ear "get off!" The witch tells her Familiar.

She then picks The Flower of Andraste and puts it gently and safely into a container then puts the container into her bag "alright, let's get home. It'll be dark soon."

While the two are walking home the witch here's crying coming from around a tree. As she walks around she finds a little boy maybe around ten crying his eyes out "hey there kid, what are you crying about?" She asks the boy. The boy then looks at her but doesn't say anything "come on kid you can tell me" she comforts the child "*sniff* my mummy always*sniff* told me never to talk to strangers" "well your mum's right, speaking of which where is your mum?" She asks "she went into the forest to find food but she's been gone awhile" the boy is about to start crying again when the witch adds "hey if you come with me I can help you find her tomorrow" she says

"Well my mummy told me not to" the boy replies "look kid I can help you find her and give you a place to stay for the night, unless you want to stay here and wait that's fine" she says jokingly knowing that a little boy would give in like that "NO please don't leave me alone" the boy pleads "you know I wasn't actually going to leave you kid" "William" "sorry" "my name is William" "oh" exclaimed the witch as she didn't expect the boy to tell her anything about himself "well William my name is Vale but you can call me Vee" she says. The boy then finally looked up and stared at the purple eyes, tan skined and purple haired witch who was covered in strange looking tattoos. "CAW CAW" shriked Fir "alright were coming! Jeez don't get you feathers in a knot!" She tells him.

William giggled at the two then they both stood up and walked back to Vees home "you live here?" William asked "yeah, whats up?" "Are you the witch of the Wilds?" William asks.

Vee then took a sigh as she knew about the awful stories parents would tell there children about her. "Yes I am William but I am not a bad person like your stories say I am" she tells him "I believe you" he replies shocking Vee even more then when he said his name.

After a few minutes if her putting away The Flower of Andraste she noticed that William was silently crying in the corner. "Hey what's wrong?" She asks "I'm scared for my mummy" he says "what if she doesn't come back, what if she is with the maker" he asks starting to panick "hey hey it's ok I promise that tomorrow we will find her ok" she asks but William was too busy crying to reply so Vee sat down next to him and brought out her wand and Simmons her guitar and made it play a peaceful tune while she sang to comfort him

After she finished she looked at William and Fir and noticed the two of them asleep. She smiled "the perks of having musical magic" she thought as she too drifted to sleep.

**Time skip to morning**

When Vee woke up she noticed William still asleep so she quietly and carefully got up so not to disturb him and got to work on making them both breakfast.
After ten minutes William woke up "morning William" "morning Vee"
"Caw caw" Fir squaks in a good morning fashion as Vee rolls her eyes at him.
When they both sat down to have a bite to eat they both heard a voice in the distance calling
"William" the voice shouted "MUMMY" William screamed as he ran out of the cabin "WILLIAM WAIT!" Vee calls for him but when she catches up to him she sees him hugging the life out of a woman with red curly hair and vibrant green eyes. They then both looked at Vee and the woman then said "Thank you so much for finding him you have no idea how worried I was for him after the village burned down..." "woah woah wait what?" Vee asks the woman "do you not know?" The woman asks "Lothering is gone it was burned down by Darkspawn and they are slowly making their way into the wilds" she says "WHAT?!" Then suddenly and explosion happen and they all turn to look then Vee suddenly bolts it for her cabin "VEE!" William call for her but she was in too much of a panick to notice.

When she reaches her house it was to late the cabin was destroyed but she didn't care for the house she cared more for her Familiar. "Hssss" she hears from beside her feet she then looks down and notices a black snake with slightly purple scales "FIR! oh thank the Maker your alright" she says with so much happiness knowing her best friend is alive.

They then both look at the destroyed house "we better look for anything to salvage before we have to leave" she says

After fifteen minutes of looking they both manage to find some ingrediants, potions and Vees guitar. They then start to leave they ruined house "what are we going to do now" Vee asks but before Fir can reply a woman steps out from the tree line with a dragon on her shoulder and a large bag on her other shoulder. They both stair at eachother for a few seconds before they both draw weapons on eachother. One with a wand another with a Lance.

"So you going to attack me or what?" The mysterious woman asks
