Elementary Tours

Hol' up a good second, it turns out we also had an elementary tour on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, where we play our show for and talk to the 5th graders at 6 different elementary schools in the hopes that it'll make them want to join band.

So we did that, right? And lemme tell you some of my favorite moments from the elementary visits:

On the second day of the tour, we went to my former elementary school, and heh, that brought back a lot of memories. Anyway, after playing for the kids and everything, the 5th graders were sent out to recess and we went to load the truck, which was right by their playground. Partway through the loading, a couple kids came up to us and asked for hugs, so me and a couple other pit members gave them hugs.

Next thing you know, there are like 20 kids all around us, every single one of them wanting a hug. I swear, one saw a hug so the others came so more and more arrived, and I'm giving endless hugs to a bunch of short little kids surrounding me.

It was really adorable, hugging a bunch of little baby 5th graders.

A funny thing was that after the giving of hugs, my friend N was like, "Hey, you should charge them a dollar for every hug." One of the kids heard money and decided he wanted some, so he asked us for money because he was poor. And you know how N responded? He said, "Here's some money," and did this: 👌

😂😂Lord, I died

Then all of them began asking for money, but one girl (the first to ask for a hug earlier) tried to block them off from us by holding her hands out in front of them while saying that we, as older kids, needed the money more than them to save up for college and stuff. She then told us to save our money for college and important stuff and nothing else.😂

I was like, "So you're saying I shouldn't buy chocolate from my friends?" And she got a bit confused before we all bust out laughing.

That's when the other percussionists finished loading the truck and we had to go, so we said our goodbyes.

While walking across the blacktop to get to the parking lot where the buses were, the same young girl latched onto my arm and yelled, "Take me with youuuu!"

She started talking excitedly about how she wanted to come with us, even saying "Bye troublemakers!" to her friends as she walked across half the blacktop latched onto my arm.

This was one of the greatest things to happen to me, and it made me smile so much. I mean, let me tell you, hugging and laughing with a bunch of cute little 5th graders is one of the best things ever!

And the best part is that right before it happened, I wasn't in the best of moods, so it literally raised my day beyond the stars~

ALSO

Later on the same day, as we were unloading the truck at another elementary, my pit captain (B) randomly (and confidently) exclaimed, "I have a theory!" as I walked past her.

Curious, I asked her what her theory was, but she refused tell me because she "didn't want it to affect any future choices."

Huh? I'm a little confused and even more curious, so I try to get her to tell me.

She still says no  :(

I kinda whine, sad she won't tell me, when she's like, "Okay, I don't wanna make you cryy."

She has a theory that Aa and I will one day get married and live happily with each other.

Now, not gonna lie, that's kinda cute. But at the same time,

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFF.

That is one gargantuan oof!

Like, she really wants that to happen. Wow.

It's really funny though, but who knows? I told this to B, and she's just like, "But don't let my theory make you change anything in your future." And when I said maybe, because for all I know it'll be in like 20 years, she was like, "It could be in 30 years; I don't wanna rush y'all. Still, I think you'll get married, and I would hope you'd invite me." (Which I would, btw.)

Anyway, yeah. It was a colossal oof, but it was also kinda cute. I mean, who knows? I don't know what the future holds.

But yeah. Although I missed 5 of 7 class periods for 3 school days, the elementary tour was pretty fun.

OH, and we have Thanksgiving Break, so no school for a week~
