Chapter 1

Kaede's Perspective:

I woke up to the morning announcement made by those stupid bear thingies. Was is a special thing about the academy that needed stuffed animal bears as teachers or was it just a dum thing they did. Nevertheless I woke up and thought I'd explore the campus on the first day of school, maybe meet some people. I had to do something so I went and explored. I hadn't met anyone yet, man this campus was big, we each had our own lab to study our ultimates. But they were locked until tomorrow. I went down the hall while looking at the map on my monopad, while bumping into a guy with dark cyan blue hair, a black striped suit, and what stood out most, his hat covering most of his face. "Uhh sorry about that, should have watched where I was going." "No it's my fault, shouldn't have been staring at my monopad to get around." He looked like he was trying to avoid eye contact. He didn't seem shy though so I wondered what was up. "Anyway, hi I'm Kaede Akamatsu, nice to meet you." "Shuichi Saihara, it's my pleasure." Wow he was nice. "I'm the Ultimate Pianist, what about you?" "I'm a detective I guess." Huh? "What do you mean 'I guess'" "Oh uh, I'm not really a detective, just one lucky case I cracked and then ended up here." He paused a second. "Let's not talk about that, so you're a pianist, that's cool." "Yea it is" there was an awkward sensation in the air that I'm sure both of us felt "I haven't met anyone yet, can you explore this place with me?" "Sure, I haven't met anyone either so of course." We walked into a classroom and looked around a bit. He was really nice and really cute, but somewhat mysterious like he had something he was ashamed of. It seemed like he had low self esteem, I don't know why but I got that vibe from him.

Shuichi's Perspective

This pretty girl, so happy and upbeat. Just being around her made me feel good about myself, which was hard to find in me these days. It was cool and we were hanging out. "Soo" she said. I knew she was trying her best to not make it awkward but that's the way it seemed to go. "It's kind of weird how we were chosen to go to this school" I said, helping her engage. "Yea, we must be pretty talented" "Yea.." She looked a little nervous. "Can you be my friend Shuichi?" "Uhh y-your friend?" "Yea, it'll be nice to have a friend, I don't really know anyone and it would be cool to have someone I know." I blushed a little, I don't know why. "Okay sure of course, it would be nice to have someone there." I trailed off. Something about her made me think she was the kind of person to be friends with a stranger, so my skills were correct. Her smile was the kind that lit up the world, hmm- "EVERYONE REPORT TO THE GYM FOR AN ASSEMBLY TO TALK ABOUT YOUR ULTIMATE SCHOOL YEAR AHEAD!!" "Guess we better go then." "Let's go Shuichi, don't wanna be late." She strutted with her hair going side to side.

Kaede's Perspective:

Then my friend Shuichi and I arrived at the gym. I looked at him and blushed. He seemed caring and kind, even though he was mysterious. Then principal Monokuma introduced all of us and all our talents to eachother.
