i just want to protect you

i look up from my phone as i hear a car approaching. i look through the window and there he is. he's looking down at this phone with a frown so i do what anyone else would have done in this situation and sent another message.

lover
lighten up my love. you're so much prettier when you smile

after that message he looks up from his phone and out the window but he can't see me. i'm hiding behind some guy reading the newspaper. i am invisible to him.

mylove
where are you? how can you see me?

his frown only gets bigger and it makes me mad. i don't like being mad.

please smile, i can't bare to see you sad

and he isn't wrong. i can see the fear in his eyes. at least he knows i exist. next i will make him see me in a new light. next he will see me and he won't be scared. i don't like seeing him scared but i have to do what i must to get him to love me.
