❥ Chapter 3: iHop and Tall people ❥
I jolted awake at the sound of a cry. It could only be one person considering my mom was at work. It was her usual night shift at the hospital. I grabbed Luke Robert off my bed and ran straight to her room.
"Sammy . . ." She groans pathetically and my eyebrows crease with worry at the 5-year-old. She looks like she's gotten sicker.
"Sophia? Baby girl? I'm right here honey." I walk over to the bed and I see that she's lying on her stomach.
"Sissy?" She asks.
"Yeah? What do you need Soph?" I rub circles into the brown eyed, dark brown haired, and tanned skinned little girls back. She looks exactly like I did when I was a child. It's not hard to tell we're related. It's the same with my brothers.
"Can you sing me a song? It might make me feel better." She mutters softly.
"What song Sophia?" I ask letting her clutch Luke to her chest. I hadn't even noticed that she grabbed him from my hands.
"Hopeful. It's the Bars and Melody version. Amnesia by 5Sauce too." She replies already half asleep. I decide to go without my keyboard and sing acapella.
❥
Oh-oh-oh
(Yeah)
Please help me God.
I feel so alone.
I'm just a kid, I can't take it on my own.
I've cried so many tears, yeah, writing this song
Tryna fit in, where do I belong?
I wake up everyday, don't wanna leave my home.
My momma's asking me why I'm always alone.
Too scared to say, too scared to holla.
I'm walking to school with sweat around my collar.
I'm just a kid, I don't want no stress.
My nerves are bad, my life's a mess.
The names you call me; they hurt real bad.
I wanna tell my Mum but she's having trouble with my Dad.
I feel so trapped, there's nowhere to turn.
Come to school, don't wanna fight I wanna learn.
So please mister bully, tell me what I've done.
You know I have no Dad, I'm living with my Mum.
'Cause I'm hopeful, yes I am, hopeful for today!
Take this music and use it, let it take you away!
And be hopeful, hopeful, and he'll make a way!
I know it ain't easy, but, that's okay.
Just be hopeful.
Why do you trip at the colour of my skin.
And whether I'm fat or whether I'm thin.
You call me loser, you call me a fool.
I ain't got a choice, I gotta go to school.
I wish I had an angel to stick by my side.
I'm shaking with fear, I'm so scared inside.
Doesn't really matter if I ain't got the looks.
Why do you always hurt me and destroy my books?
'Cause I'm hopeful, yes I am, hopeful for today!
Take this music and use it, let it take you away!
And be hopeful, hopeful, and he'll make a way!
I know it ain't easy, but, that's okay.
Just be hopeful.
I give you all my money every single day.
I didn't ask to be born but now I have to pay.
I ain't got no food, you take all I have.
When I give it to you, you search through my bags.
I wrote this song for you to see.
We could've been friends, yeah you and me.
Mister bully, take a moment please.
Every single day you bring me to my knees.
'Cause I'm hopeful, yes I am, hopeful for today! (Yeah)
Take this music and use it, let it take you away! (Uh-huh)
And be hopeful, hopeful, and he'll make a way!
I know it ain't easy, but (Yeah), that's okay!
Just be hopeful.
'Cause I'm hopeful, yes I am, hopeful for today! (Hopeful for today)
Take this music and use it (Bars and Melody!), let it take you away! (Take you away)
And be hopeful, hopeful (Yeah), and he'll make a way.
I know it ain't easy, but, that's okay.
Just be hopeful.
What I wear is all I have.
We lost our home, I'm livin' from a bag.
Yo mister bully, help me please.
I'm flesh and blood, accept me please.
