CHAPTER THREE:
SWEET WORDS.

Alexa Cahill was annoyed when she found the third basked, this time full of lollypops. Even though she appreciated that someone was leaving her baskets with candy, she didn't like not knowing who was doing it.

Especially because she was starting to worry.

She didn't want to say anything. She knew that if she showed how worried she was, that sentiment was only to be multiplicated when she told her friends. But she still couldn't sleep well, thinking that some stranger was getting into her house once a month—maybe more times than that—.

She then sent a message to the man she considered to be her best friend to meet with him, and a few minutes later she was already on the street

It didn't take much to find Steve Rogers, who was running around the square, doing his usual exercise. The blonde stopped his exercises when he saw his friend, smiling at him and respecting his personal space given the fact that she had already said that she hated sweat.

"I need you to tell me the truth," Alexa talked seriously.

Steve frowned and approached the girl. "Is everything okay, Lex?"

The redheaded nodded. "I think so. I need to know if... well, are you the one leaving baskets with candy in my house?"

"No... there are baskets at your house?"

Alexa nodded again. "Once a month. It's already the third one and I still don't know who is putting them in my house."

Steve relaxed, shrugging his shoulders. "It's probably Pietro."

"It's not him, I already asked him."

The blonde guy raised his eyebrows. "And you believe him? I mean, it wouldn't be the first time he is lying to you."

"I know, but I'm sure," the redheaded insisted. She could feel he was telling the truth. "I'll figure it out, don't worry," she said, remembering the note: sweet words.
