A gray-blue she-cat was narrowing her eyes as she stared down, looking into the wavy portal on the ground. It was a view of the ThunderClan nursery, where a fluffy white she-cat lay. Three kits were resting against her belly.

A gray tom with dark blue eyes and a half-ear padded over to the blue she-cat. He swished his tail. "What are you looking at, Bluestar?" The tom sighed.

The she-cat didn't take her gaze away from the white she-cat with kits. "A huge threat is coming to ThunderClan," She murmured.

"Like what? Fluffypelt's kits? Come on, they're-"

"Ashstar, you know what I'm talking about, right? It's about  Sharpkit. Unfortunately, we can not steer him away from his destiny. It is only his own paws that can control him now," Bluestar sighed, looking at the gray tom.

"Don't we have the power to visit him in his dreams and convince him to not train in the Dark Forest?" Ashstar asked, his tail lashing.

"I'm afraid we do not. StarClan is powerful, but it doesn't necessarily control a cat's fate," Bluestar sighed, putting her paw in front of the wavy-portal. It swished and faded away, stars replacing it. Bluestar's head hung. "We'll just have to hope that Sharpkit does...well."

"And what if he doesn't? We should warn ThunderClan before-"

"Heh, young leader, you've still got much to learn. Maybe a little more time in StarClan and you'll be a bit more wise?" Bluestar cut off Ashstar with a look of slight amusement, slight seriousness in her eyes. "The best we can do is hope."

"Really?' Ashstar unsheathed his claws, griping the star-twinkling grass. "Hoping does nothing, believe me, I've tried. If you can't warn them, I'll try," Ashstar meowed, getting to his paws.

"You'll do no such thing," Bluestar growled, bristling. "You're still hotheaded, even in StarClan. You still want everything your way, don't you?" She asked, staring at Ashstar.

"We're StarClan!" Ashstar broke the silence. "What good will it do by not warning them and just watching the Clan get destroyed?" He growled.

Bluestar moved closer to him. "My hopes are that Sharpkit won't be so bad. Warning the Clan about a three-moon old kit wouldn't seem that serious. We'll..."

"What?"

"Wait for something to happen," Bluestar finished.

"Really?" Ashstar asked as she began to pad away. "You'll let this kit destroy my Clan?" He hissed.

"It's my Clan as well as your's. It's ThunderClan," Bluestar murmured, lashing her tail. "I've given up on ThunderClan anyway...."

A flame-colored tabby tom padded from the undergrowth, his emerald-green eyes shining. "Hello, Ashstar," He mewed.

Ashstar turned. "Firestar," He breathed. "How long have you been standing there?"

"Don't worry, I've not been there long. Listen, don't worry about Bluestar. She's just old," Firestar purred.

"I'm worrying," Ashstar hissed, lashing his tail and stirring the stars sitting by his paws.

"Don't worry about ThunderClan. They'll be fine without you. When I first joined StarClan, I thought ThunderClan would be destroyed by you, but I was wrong. Turns out, I had Tigerstar to blame, and not you. Everything turned out fine in the end, didn't it?" Firestar meowed.

"Well. Maybe it did. It's just..." Ashstar trailed off, lost for words.

"Oh,  Ashstar, you've still got plenty to learn. What is it? Don't you trust Squirrelstar to lead your Clan? She was a loyal cat and hasn't done anything wrong. It's been a lot of moons since Squirrelflight became leader, and she's done a good job so far, has't she?" Firestar prompted, his tail-tip twitching and his green eyes shining.

"No! I do trust her! Ir's just that... I'm worried about what Sharpkit will turn in to," He mumbled.

Firestar lifted his chin. "Don't worry. I'm sure ThunderClan will handle it if he turns into a traitor," He meowed softly.

"R-really?" Ashstar sighed. "I... guess," He mumbled.

"Ok then," Firestar mewed, padding after Bluestar. He disappeared over the grassy hill.

Ashstar sighed inwardly. Then I'll just warn Mothstripe when she comes to the Moon Trail tonight. Seems like Firestar and Bluestar would rather let ThunderClan fall...
