Caravels
Caravels are a small, highly maneuverable sailing ships also they are cheap compared to other ships. Bartolomeu Dias used 3 of these ships for keeping food, supplies and for transportation of his crew and himself.
Magnetic Compass/Compass Rose
Magnetic compasses depict the direction the ship is moving in, helping Bartolomeu reach his destination. Compass Roses have a magnetized needle Supported by a Magnetic Card. It showed 8 directions North, North East, East, South East, South, South West, West, and North West.
Astrolabe
An Astrolabe is an angle and altitude measuring tool. It was invented by a Greek astronomer and Mathematician and then later used by sailors. It helped sailors measure the angle of the sun which could be converted to latitude.
