The air was cold and wet as I walked the side of the road, to the park. I didn't run into anyone on the way except for the couple cars returning from bars. It seems stupid they would be driving but it's not my problem.

I was nearing the park and I smelled something. Blood? If it was it was dry. Usually I can nearly taste it when I smell it if it's running somewhere.

"It was in the park? Strange..." I said to myself. My senses forced me to increase my pace and before very long I was in full sprint. I had to know what, if any, connection there was to my note and this smell.

When I finally got to the park the smell was overpowering. I started to see a figure under the large willow in the park. Whatever it was the smell was close to it. I went to the tree only 10ft away from the figure. My eyes adjusted to what appeared to be a him.

"Hello Bryan." said the figure. He was fairly tall but not more than an inch taller than me. He was wearing a dark trench coat and black shirt. His hair was long and dark, held in a pony tail.

"Are you Gilles?" I asked.

"I am indeed." he moved forward to shake my hand. In the moon light I could see his large fangs and pale complexion. "I expect you are curious about why I have invited you here."

He looked into my eyes and I knew I didn't need to respond. He already knew it all.

"Well I am Gilles as you are well aware and like you, my associates and I are blessed with our unique gifts. I can see that unlike us you have not met your full potential as a vampire. It is quite a shame. I can see you have great power." He looked me over and clicked something in his pocket a few times.

"What was that?" I asked.

"I was telling my companions to prepare for you. That is if you would follow me into the woods..."

I thought for a moment and when I decided I'd follow him he began leading me into the woods behind the park.

We didn't talk on the way in the park but I felt like I was getting to know him by just being in his presence. His walk shown a lot about him. He had a confidence that was usually only found in the elite class you would see on TV. He was easy to follow.

"Is there a time you must return to your residence?" He looked at his watch and stopped.

"Not really. The family I stay with are used to one of us being gone." I answered.

"Alright, that is good."

We got to a small clearing in the woods when he stopped us. "Wait..." he sniffed the air. "Shit." He turned to me. "I need you to take this." He hand me a snapping mechanism, probably what he used to contact whoever he was contacting. "Go back to your home. Quickly!" I could see his figure grow tense. "Now!" His elegant voice was changed to animistic growls.

"What's happening?" I was scared.

"Run!" He swung at me and I ran toward my house. I wondered what could possibly scare him so much. But anyways as I was running I could hear what sounded like the clashing of swords. Strange...

I ran home and snuck into my room through my window before the sun came out. I did not want to get drained again.
