Hermione's POV
September 15,1990
I sat lay across my bed with a book in hand, although I wasn't reading it, I flipped through the pages and pondered why my parents were arguing loudly downstairs."We shouldn't tell her!", I heard mother shouted at father.
"Oh yes we will! They're coming this evening to take her! We should tell her Jean at this moment.", my father shouted back at her.
What are they going to tell me that they argued about?
Who's coming to take me?
I heard my father's angry stomps climbing up the stairs and to my room, with mum's footsteps trailing far behind.
I quickly pretended to read my book intently as dad slammed the door open.
"Hermione Blaire Granger," dad spat our last name in disgust. "Come downstairs to the living room at once."
What's happening?
Then, he slammed the door shut again and stomped back downstairs.
I heard my door creak open and mum walked towards me slowly.
I could obviously see that she was crying, as her eyes were red and puffy and there were tear stains on her cheeks.
"Mum, what's wrong?" I asked her as I put down my book and walked to her.
"Hermione dear, sorry about that. Come on, let's go downstairs before your father gets furious." mum said with a sad smile.
I hugged her tightly, held her hand and walked out the room to the living room where my dad sat on the sofa cross-legged with his hands crossed across his chest.
"Dad, mum, what is this you're telling me?" I asked as I sat down on the sofa across them, looking to mum to dad then back again.
"'Mione, we're sorry, we should have told you this years ag–" mum started but was cut off by dad.
"You're adopted." dad said simply, without emotion or remorse.
"Wha-What?" I asked them. Looking at their faces for any sign of a joke.
"Hermione, we're sorry." mum, or should I say my adoptive mother, walked to me and pulled me into an embrace.
"It's true?" I asked them, my voice quivering slightly.
"I'm sorry." mum said again, tears falling down her cheeks as she let go of me and looked at me in the eye.
I felt tears streaming down my face.
I looked over to dad and saw that he was muttering words silently to himself and scoffing from time to time.
"Dear, when are they arriving?" mum asked him.
That snapped him out of his trance.
"I said, when are they arriving?" mum repeated through gritted teeth as she saw dad's confused face.
"Oh, around 6." dad said, emotionless as he turned on the TV and watched some news.
"'Mione, go upstairs to your room and pack your stuff. Your biological mother will be picking you up in an hour." mum explained.
