"You need to go home and get some rest before school," someone murmured. "It's nearly four in the morning. I'm not letting you skip."

I drifted out of sleep with a low grumble, letting my eyes slide open. I squinted at the bright lights on the ceiling. I heard the person sigh. "You have five minutes, Liam. Then you both have to rest."

I heard a door shut softly and I turned to the side. I made out Liam's blurry shape and smiled. "Hi, Liam," I mumbled. His eyes were wide.

Apologies flew out of his mouth faster than my scrambled mind could register and I tried to raise my hand to stop him and realized he had a tight grip on it. I looked down and grinned crookedly. "I like you too, buddy."

He chuckled nervously, taking back his hand and running it through his hair. "I'm so sorry," he said softly. I waved him off.

"You're fine," I slurred, glancing to see who was holding onto my other hand. My eyebrows twitched upwards. "Oh," I said with a slow blink. "My dad's here."

"You need to sleep more," Liam said. "You're tired. You don't know what you're saying."

I nodded with a small yawn. I reached out towards his face and placed my hand on the side of his jaw. "Maybe you're right." I patted his face gently before leaning back into my pillow.  "G'night, Liam."

"Goodnight, Remy."

I sighed and drifted back into unconsciousness.

_

My eyes fluttered open slowly, my head pounding. I groaned, trying to stuff my face further into the pillow.

"Remy," someone said soothingly from beside me. I heard a small click and the light dimmed. I opened my eyes.

"Dad?" I mumbled groggily, seeing him sitting beside me in the chair. I blinked quickly, sitting up and finally registering that he was here. I grinned tiredly, holding out my arms. "Dad."

"Hey, sweetheart," he stood, reaching over and gently wrapping his arms around my middle. His newly grown beard scratched against my cheek. I smiled, joyful tears springing into my eyes.

"I missed you so much," I muttered against his shoulder. He nodded, pressing a kiss to my head.

"I missed you too."

He pulled back and I ran my fingers across the front of my hospital gown, feeling the tightness and padding of a bandage. I raked my fingers through my hair. "Is Liam alright?"

Dad didn't answer for a moment, before he sighed and nodded. "His father sent him home at around 4:00 this morning to get some sleep before school. He stayed nearly the whole night outside your room."

I tried to remember if I had woken up, but I was left with a blank memory. I sighed, letting my lips turn up into a small smile.

"Really?" I breathed. He nodded. "You didn't make him feel worse, did you?"

"I barely talked to him. I let him in to see you and he fell asleep." He smiled. I nodded.

"What time is it?"

"Almost 7:00."

"Good, I can still make it to school." I pushed back my covers, and started ripping off the tape that held the tubes into my arms, ready to get out of the bed. Dad frowned.

"No, no, no, you're staying here," he said with a shake of his head. My eyes widened, and the doctor walked in. My dad pushed me back into the bed, taping everything into place again.
