"Remy! Wake up, c'mon, get up!"
I jolted awake with a loud snort, my eyes immediately focusing on Liam, who was still beside me, but leaning forward to put his face near mine. "What?" I mumbled, rubbing my eyes with my fist.
"Brett and Scott got attacked by Violet."
My eyes widened and I hopped to my feet. "Seriously?" I snapped, and Liam nodded furiously. He grabbed my hand and started to drag me through the crowd, who were beginning to pour out of the bleachers and towards the parking lot steadily. Police cars were already by the front of the school.
"Is Scott okay?" I asked as we both entered the school, practically running towards the locker rooms. Liam didn't answer, his attention somewhere else. We found the lacrosse team in the hall being cleared away by Finstock.
"Guys, back off!" he ordered. "You can get your gear tomorrow, and if anyone sees Garrett, you notify the police immediately. Then tell him he's off the damn team!"
We sneaked past them, turning down another hallway where I could hear Scott's voice. Liam flattened himself against the wall, and I did the same. He peered around the corner cautiously.
"Dad, really, I'm okay," Scott reassured his father. I heard him sigh.
"I-I should have been here," his father said. "I said I would be at the games."
"This was just a pre-season scrimmage, I didn't even tell you about it."
"But I promised your mom I'd be around so she could pick up some double shifts at the hospital," Scott's dad said. "I should have been here."
"You're here now," said Scott softly.
"Jordan Parrish."
Violet's voice broke through the quiet murmurs in the hall, making me peer around the corner, past Liam. Parrish was holding her by the elbow, the look on his face not exactly pleased. "Deputy Parrish," he said harshly.
As they came around the corner, Violet's dark eyes met mine. She gave me a malice-filled smirk, and I glared back. She winked. Liam's hand tightened around mine, placing his body in front of me, successfully hiding me from view. He glowered at her.
I felt my heart pound rapidly in my chest, unwarranted fear flooding through my body. I swallowed thickly, turning away as I saw Violet's back disappear around the corner. I placed my cheek against the cool wall. What the hell was that all about?
I really needed some sleep.
"It's a thermo-cut wire," Sheriff Stilinski's voice broke through my reverie. I sighed softly.
Scott's father came barreling around the corner, quickly followed by Sheriff Stilinski. As Scott went to follow, Liam and I jumped in front of him. He looked surprised. "Where's Kira?"
"She took off. Stiles told her about Lydia cracking the second part of the deadpool," Liam answered quietly. The alpha's lips parted in understanding.
"Her mom's on it," Scott breathed.
"Everyone's on it."
"You're not," Scott stated. Liam shrugged.
"Not yet," he said. "There's still another third, right?"
Scott and Liam both looked around the corner, where I could just barely hear Scott's dad talking to Violet. I peeked over, attempting to crane my head to listen, but it was too far away. I sighed.
"We're gonna need to get into Garrett's locker," Scott finally murmured as the last people cleared out of the hallway. I turned back to him with raised eyebrows.
