Something Between Us

Chapter 9

These questions keep entering in my mind . I don't have answers to this.
I need answers from him.

I sat there in thought and didn't know that time is running out .
Then I came into conclusion that I should talk to him , so that my doubts will be cleared

Maybe tomorrow I can talk to him .

Denver is in the hosptial and we work more than other employes. I don't know what will Langston think .

Few years ago, at David 's party , I was invited at his party .

Flashback :

I and Denver was in taxi cab and head towards the building where all the doctors were invited for our boss' s birthday.

I was wearing a nude colour which had V -neck , Denver in the tux. He looked at me and told me that I looked amazing tonight . I told him that him that he looked dashing .

I smiled at him

He looked outside and watching all the buildings go . I know that he wanted to talk . He always chose his silence for not talking to me . He looked at me and smile.

I like that .

The taxi came into halt . I looked outside and saw the building which all the lights were bright .

I guess this the place.

I opened the door and stepped out which Denver follows the same after paying the money to the taxi driver .

I stood and looked at the building .He came and stood.

" so Sparks, are you ready for this ? " asked He

" Yeah man "

We went inside the building and found ourselves greeted by the hostess who wore a black and white dress which is blondie . I guess she on duty for the event.

I noticed that Denver was starring at her. I knew what he is thinking .
I count to 5 , telling me that she looked
hot .

He doesn't tell me that .Instead he look the other side and see the painting on the wall.
She said " I am Derlena , will show you the party hall . Please follow me."

We followed her which lead us narrow
path . The wall on the both sides were painted in black and red mix.

She opened the door for us.
" Enjoy Yourselves "

He and I went inside the hall . The hall was huge which had large chandiler that hung on the wall.

All I see people talking , most probably doctors from other hospital.

Everyone is talking .

Denver said "Well I guess this the place ."

I nodded.

We were standing on the shoulder level .

We watched everone talking . I cross my arms . Me and Denver exchange a glance as smile .
Our gaze broke when a thin and tall man whose hair were gelled back , coming towards us.

" Hello Denver " said The tall man .

He looked at me and said " Well who is this young lady ? "

" This is my sister Sparks "

" Oh I see " said He looked at me. His eyes was navy blue which looked like
Los Angeles 's ocean.

" Hello My name is Martin Langston . Pleasure meet you , Sparks ."

"Well pleasure is mine , Sir."
He gave me toothy smile which his 32 teeth can be seen .

"Please dont call me sir over here , just call me Martin"

"Okay "

Well I guess I should go with flow . I felt something down in stomach. I guess I should leave.

" Could you excuse myself , I guess I have restroom"

Then they nodded.

He starts talking to Denver , igonging me , well I don't mind him .

The music blasted in the dance floor .Everyone loop their arms into the other and went for dance .

The song was romantic and I don't have partner neither Denver has .

Then Martin pull out his hand and said " Hey Sparks would like to dance with me ?"

I looked at Denver for permission . He suddenly nods.I placed my hand on his .

"I would love to " said I grin .

He and I walk to the dance floor and his hand touch my back and my hand on his hand .
He smile at me .

All I feel nervousness in me and he looked at me and smiled .

" I guess this the first time that I am dancing with a girl . "

I nodded quickly.

There was a silence between us besides the music which was going on . Wait a minute , is my boss dancing with me?

"I know what you are thinking , Sparks . It is okay that you dancing with me ."

Ok now he understood that what I am thinking . He spin me which was low spin . I went spin which 360 degree.

The music stopped .
I stepped back and made a final bow , as he followed my example.

Then everyone started clapping.

" Miss Cross I guess it is was nice dance with you .

" and you too , Langston. "

He smiled at me .

I went to look for my brother who seems to be vanish from the spot where he stood. Then I found him sitting in the sofa, drinking vodka which he was talking to his friends. He smile and drank the vodka.

I saw many glasses which was 8. I heard after 8 glasses, he will get high and

"Let's go"

The end of flashback.

It ended as the phone started ringing .

It is Denver

I pick up the phone .
