Living on a dairy farm growing up, my grandpa was never allowed to have horses. He always wanted one but his dad wouldn't allow him. So one morning, he looked at my grandma and said, "I'm getting horses." My grandma thought he was absolutely crazy and that he would have them sold within a couple months. She was wrong. That day, my grandpa went to look at a horse named Diablo. He bought him knowing nothing about horses or not even riding this horse before he bought it. He fell in love with Diablo instantly. Diablo was a tall, fat, paint gelding. He traded him and another horse a few years later at an auction for a horse that was supposedly better. He always says that if he ever found him again, he would buy him back in a heart beat. Diablo is the spanish name for "Devil". And devil he was. That horse was terrible! But Grandpa loved him. That same day, they went to look at another horse for my Grandma. They bought her. Her name was Kaia. She was a 8 year old paint mare. She was the reason I started riding. My grandpa would lead me around on her all the time and then I started begging my parents for a pony. Then, they bought me Chico. I still remember the day we went to look at him. It was chilly out and we drove an hour and a half to look at him. The farm he came from was big. They had their own riding arena and a decent sized pasture for the 2 ponies. We had 2 ponies we could choose from. One was Chico and the other was a white pony mare named Surprise. We chose to ride Chico and I loved him. We bought him for $750. We got him on a Wednesday in May.  I loved him. I constantly was riding him and messing with him. Three months later, I took him to the county fair. Just for the experience. I didn't do very well. But it was just about having fun then. The next year at the fair, he reared going into the gate and I was petrified. My friend, Raegan, was riding a really fast horse named Becca that year. She did good on her. Becca was a beautiful buckskin mare- one of the prettiest horses I had ever seen. She was hot at the gate and I thought it would be really scary doing that. My grandpa told her dad, Tod, that he would buy that horse if they ever wanted to sell it. Raegan made it to districts on her. She placed third in Poles at districts and went on to states. Becca pulled a tendon at districts and had to be pampered constantly for it to heal. That October, Raegan went to states on her and placed 5th. Then, in April, my grandpa got a text. It was from Raegan's mom, Holly.

Beccca Is for sale. Raegan decided she wanted to sell her and focus on volleyball.
