"Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same."

(Wuthering Heights)

Tink's POV

I was making coffee for Peter and me when I hear the rather harsh stomping of heels outside. I look outside to find our receptionist with a pissed off expression coming rather forcefully towards the break room. She knocks me aside to use the coffee machine even though there's another one free right next to me.

Alicia Brooke, the redhead receptionist is a waste of time and space in our office, the only reason she even has this job is because she is the niece to a friend of Peter.

"You know there's a spare machine half a step away, you don't need to shove people to get your coffee," I mutter looking at my coffee.

"Whatever bitch, don't think you can boss around just because you are boss's best friend. I know you want him as more than that but you'll never get him you fugly skank. You are so damn ugly, no wonder he never looked at you that way" She sneers and though her words hurt me, I don't let them get to me.

"Oooh, I cared for about a ninth of a second. Then I remembered how stupid and insignificant it is."

She leans forward. "Did you know that in the dictionary, your name is under the word 'bitch'?"

"Not sure why you're smiling. I'm not the one who had to look up the word."

She sucks in a breath and was about to bark something else, but then suddenly stomps off looking like a sullen kid.

After the 'bitch incident' as I'm now calling it, Peter and I spend our entire morning working and by the time it's noon we're both exhausted.

"Hey, Pete? Wanna go out for a quick lunch before the interviews? I'm starving." I say as I watch Pete laying on the couch in his office, working on the laptop. He looks so comfortable, so different from the outer exterior he reserves for the rest of the world.

"Sure. Give me a minute, I'll tell the Jake to start the interview with a group discussion, we should be back by the end of it."

Jake works in HR and is an overall sweetheart. He is also really handsome with sandy blonde hair and warm brown eyes, completely different from Peter's chocolate brown ones which are cold to everyone but me. Anyway, Jake is also a huge flirt who likes to sleep with anything that moves.

We make our way to a small cafe near the office and thankfully Peter lets me use the elevator. I kiss his cheek for that.

"If I'd get a kiss everytime we take the elevator, we'll never use the stairs, fairy," Peter whispers in my ear while I blush red and he then kisses the blush.

I know he doesn't mean anything by the light flirting we engage into every now and then but God, I wish it did. I wish with everything that I am that he loves me the way I love him. But like it's said if wishes were fishes we'd all cast nets.

The elevator ride is silent after that with both of us engrossed in our phones. I read news while Pete does Lord knows what.

We make our way to the small restaurant across the street, Food Affair. It's run by an old couple, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson who insists on being called Harry and Beth. Beth is a mother figure in our lives and we love that cute and cranky old lady to bits, While Harry is more of a cool Uncle.

I immediately spot Beth and leave Peter behind to go hug her. I haven't seen her in 2 weeks because of work.

"Dear Lord, Tink! You almost gave me a heart attack. Also, you both are banned from my restaurant for ignoring me for two damn weeks. Get out of here." The drama queen says in her most serious expression.
