"I don't want to go!" Kalani exclaims, tears running down her face.

"It is alright, Kalani. Now put on your dress, you look so pretty in it!" Aceline says. Wren is thankful for Aceline, who can always calm Kalani down. She slips into her dress, and lets Orianna twist her long hair into a bun.

"We must have a way to communicate, though we will be very far apart. A way to tell each other we are okay," Orianna says, and Aceline nods.

"Every morning, I will send a bolt of lightning, it will make no sound though, so you must look toward Indrid Down every morning to see it," Kalani says.

"That will work," Aceline agrees.

"Time to go outside my queens," Wren says, and they all leave except Orianna.

"Come here, Orianna," She says.

"Yes?"

"Listen to me, you must never let anyone make you feel weak because they think you have no gift. You are strong, you survived. Do you understand?"

"Yes Wren,"

"Now go outside, your family will be here soon."

The young queens stand in a line, Wren right behind them. Three carriages rumble down the roads. One is white, with ebony black designs gilded around it. The next is powder blue with silver embellishments. The last is plain, a fern green with rusty bronze accents. The foster families step out.

"Queen Aceline, the poisoner," Wren says, and nudges Aceline towards the black and white carriage. She kisses her sisters on the top of their heads, and walks to the poisoners.

"Hello, Queen Aceline. I am Victoria Arron. Come, we are going to Prynn." A tall woman with long, white blonde hair and violet eyes says. Aceline steps into the carriage, and they leave. It was a formal and dignified departure, with no screaming and crying, perfectly fitting of Aceline.

"Queen Orianna, the naturalist," Wren says, a slight quake in her voice. Orianna hugs Kalani, and walks towards the green carriage.

"Queen Orianna, I am Elise Milone, we are going to Wolf Spring," a tall woman with chestnut hair says. Two young girls stand next to her. Orianna begins to cry, and reluctantly climbs into the old carriage, and they leave.

Only Kalani is left. She hugs Wren's legs, tears rolling down her face.

"Queen Kalani, the elemental," Wren almost whispers.

"It is alright, Queen Kalani. Come here, we are going to Indrid down, you will love it there! I am Danielle Westwood." a medium tall woman with dark brown hair says. Kalani slowly walks towards her, a gets into the carriage.

This is it, Wren thinks, they are gone. Forever.

Silent tears flow from her eyes. Her little queens. They were hers, and hers alone. But they will never be Wren's again.
