Kalani's eyes flicker open, and she realizes that she is lying down in her bed, not knowing how she got there. The memories come back, spilling into her mind like a wave. It is late afternoon, and her sister's celebrations must be going on now. Kalani hears whispers outside her door, and sits up, her bed creaking a little.

The noise alerts whoever is outside, her door swings open, and Danielle walks in, quickly followed by Vienna.

"Good, you are awake, we were beginning to worry," Vienna exclaims.

"You must have been weakened by the storm. At least you fainted here, and not during your display," Danielle says, fidgeting with her skirt.

"What will they say now, 'Queen Kalani, the weak!'. You have more power in your finger than they do!" Vienna huffs, and plops down in a green chair.

"It is alright, Vienna. I will see to it that the servants do not speak of this. We will not have a weak queen! We do not have a weak queen!" Danielle exclaims. Kalani feels as though she is invisible, Vienna and Danielle talking to each other rather than her.

"I will be fine," Kalani says, catching their attention, "I am strong. I would go to the garden, for a walk, if it is alright?"

"Yes, fine," Danielle replies.

Kalani just hopes Danielle does not see the vial of snake venom Kalani shoves back under her pillow...
