"Come out of the garden, Ori! You're going to make us late!" Amarys calls out the window. Orianna knows that they are not late for anything, but that her familiar is not coming. She is standing out in the garden, like she does every morning, calling for her familiar. It has not come, though, and it seems it will never. It has become routine for her, first waking up, going out into the garden, seeing the lightning bolt that always strikes in the morning, and calling for her familiar. Orianna walks into the Milone house, and heads to the kitchen.
Amarys sits at the table, Sierra beside her, peeling potatoes. The two girls are twins, and slightly resemble each other.
"Orianna, you and the girls should go to the market, get some fresh air," Elise says, and turns back to the dough she is kneading on the counter.
"And so Amarys can see the new boy she has her eye on!" Sierra teases. Amarys changes boys very often.
"Oh, let's just go already!" She replies, but there is a grin on her face.
They head out the door, and down to the market near the docks. As Sierra barters prices with a fisherman, Orianna catches Amarys looking at a tall, dark haired boy.
"Go!" Orianna says, and gives Amarys a small shove in that direction. She turns and gives her a grateful smile, then scampers off.
The twins resemble each other, though nobody would mistake one for the other. Amarys has long, wavy brown blonde-hair, while Sierra has medium length, tangled chestnut-ginger hair. Their eyes are what truly separate them, Amarys has green eyes speckled with yellow, and Sierra has brown, yellow, and gold kaleidoscope eyes. And, of course, their familiars are vastly different. Sierra's is a beautiful bronze feathered falcon, and Amarys has a mischievous sea otter. Both the familiars are at the Milone house now, though, along with Elise's little gray wild dog. It is unusual, for either of the twins to go anywhere without their familiars.
"Come, Ori, let's go eat at dogwood pond," Sierra says, and pulls Orianna's arm as she heads out of the market.
"When is my birthday celebration?" Orianna asks.
"Later. It doesn't matter, I know that none of us want to go anyway,"
