Trying Not To Stand Out

After resting for a bit letting Lexi do what she needed to do I wake up. I noticed that I was laying down on my bed inside of our room in the inn. I try to sit up but something pulled me back down by my arm. I look at my right arm to see Lexi holding onto me while being asleep. I was thinking to either wake her up or let her be for the moment being. After a while of thinking about it, I shake her trying to wake her up. As I do so she grumbles and groans showing that she doesn't want to wake up.

"Lexi wake up its the afternoon."

"mnn.."

"Come on you can't stay asleep the whole day."

"Mmnnn.."

"If you wake up I'll do anything you want me to do."

She then instantly gets up changing quickly without me seeing her and then grabbing her stuff ready to go.

"Hehe ok! What are we going to do?"

"I would like to go to the guild and pick out a quest that we can do together."

"Ok let's go then!"

I get out of the bed with her leaving the inn while making sure to lock the door behind us as we head towards the guild. As we walk towards the guild there seem to be even more people than when I was here earlier. Lexi seemed to be intrigued with what was happening so she rushed to the guild. When I get to the guild after Lexi does I look inside to see people surrounding someone who was near the quest board. It was a female knight that seems like she was from the higher-ups with the type of equipment they have. They were wearing white and gray armor with a red line at the parts that connect to each other. It was shiny with little to no scratches making it seem like this person was very skilled in battle. They had their weapon on their hip which looked like a long one-handed rapier with a black sheath. I look to my left to see Lexi standing in aw taking her in while everyone else was talking about the girl in white and gray armor like there was no tomorrow. I didn't know who this was due to me being new to the world. I didn't pay to much attention walking through the crowd ignoring the girl everyone was looking at going to the board. When I was looking for the quest all the noise seemed to have stopped becoming dead quiet out of nowhere. I was confused and turn around to see everyone looking at me with a shock expression. I was extremely confused and didn't like all the attention I was getting for just looking at a quest. I turn to Lexi in the crowd and she pointed somewhere. I look towards where she was pointing at and see the girl that everyone was so focused on when we came inside. She had her right fist clenched and the other one on the handle of her sword.

"W-who do you think you are to walk and ignore me when I'm giving you the privilege of me being here!?" 

She yells as she turns around making her brown hair flip behind her as she faces me with anger.

"Do you know who I am!?"

"Am I supposed to know who you are.? Sorry but I don't know."

Everyone started talking as she grew with anger. I then hear some say that Im gonna die.

"I am a noble and I am a rank A adventure named Alice Everard!"

"Oh, ok I'll try to remember that?"

She seems to grow even more mad for some reason. I don't know how to deal with these types of situations but I knew she seems to be one of those people who have a lot of pride in themselves.

"GRR. Come outside right now I challenge you to a duel!"

"Is it ok I don't?"

"NO, LET'S GO!"

She walks outside frustrated with the everyone else following her. I follow once everyone is outside. Everyone had made a ring with her inside on one side so I go to the other side. I put my hoodie on then put my hands in my pocket as I stand and face Alice.

"YOU READY?!"

I sigh nodding as she gets into a stance. Once I nod the battle starts with her pulling out her rapier out of its sheath and her getting in a stance with it out in the center of her pose. I walk slowly around the edge of the ring near the people that are forming it. She then rushes at me thrusting the tip of the sword at my arm and then my leg. I take the hit in my arm and jump up making her miss my leg. When I jumped up I jump over her pressing on her back making her stumble with the force of her thrust and from me pushing her. I land with her falling down. She growls getting up throwing a barrage of attacks at me as fast as she can. I try dodging with my hands to in my pockets. She cuts me all over my arms legs and body but nothing other than small scratches. She growls frustrated that she's the only one attacking and all I do is a dodge.

"Is that all you can do!? So much for a fight!"

She then goes for one fast and strong thrust aimed at my leg I pull a hand clenching my thumb pulling a string attached to the dagger in my sleeve making it fall down into my palm grabbing it quickly slashing all of her left arm armor leaving a dent. She sees getting mad that I had dented it and tried to cast what seemed like magic. 

"O' the warmth of air come now! Fire!"

She launches different shapes and kids of fire at me. I clench my other thumb letting the other dagger come down grabbing it too. I start to slash the fire as fast as I could trying not to let it hit me. She sees me focused on the magic and rushes with a thrust aimed at my throat.

"Die!"

I see the attack coming making time seem slower than usual.

'I'm gonna die if I don't do anything!! But What do I do?! Oh ya!'

I cast electricity focusing it on my throat and all below my waist. Alice's rapier hits my throat breaking due to the concentration of electricity protecting me and I use my legs to get from one side of the ring to the other in an instant. To me, it didn't seem like much but to everyone, it looked like I had just teleported while breaking her sword. Everyone was in dazed trying to process what had just happened. Alice didn't but seem to have been shaken of what she saw due to how close she was. In her eyes, a bright light had engulfed my neck breaking her sword with a quick side image of lighting as I move around the ring. She grabs the broken tip of the rapier and puts her rapier away leaving not saying a word with everyone watching her. Everyone went crazy talking about what had just happened wondering if she was even trying or I was just more stronger than her. The crowd then broke down with people going to different places leaving just me and Lexi. She looked amazed walking to me.

"Wow, you're amazing! With you're skills we can for sure take rank D or higher type quests!! Let's Go!"

She smiles walking inside pulling me along with her.

'So much for not standing out too much me.'

Me and Lexi then just look at different kinds of quests to take as I hide the fact that I overdid myself with the battle with Alice.
