The Scandal (Under Edit)

CHAPTER 12

Last night I was awake for a long time because of all the thoughts swirling in my mind but then I eventually slept. When I woke up today morning Brianna was not there so I had the whole place to myself. Since I didn't have to go to work until 12 in the noon. I decided to cook breakfast for myself, and do all the cleaning.

After doing all the cleaning and my laundry, I went to take a shower. When I came out of the shower I found my phone ringing. It flashed Adam's name, so I picked it up.

"Hello, Audrey! Where are you? I seriously need your help.", he spoke in a hurried way

"I'm at my place right now. What do you want me to do? I enquired.

"I want you to go to Ashton's place real quick and bring me the contracts related to the tour that we were discussing the other day. I would have gone there myself but I'm supposed to meet the sponsors for the tour for which I need those contracts. I tried calling Ashton but he is not picking his phone right now. So can you please bring them to me immediately."

"Yeah sure. I'm just about to head out, I'll bring them asap."

"Thanks Audrey! I better go now, bye!", he said and hung up.

I got ready quickly in a pair of jeans and an oversized tee, pulled my hair into a ponytail, and slipped on my black shoes. Since I was in a hurry, I didn't bother with any makeup. 

Picking my phone and bag up, I tried calling Ashton to inform him about my visit since it wasn't 12 yet but he was not answering my call.

I was in the cab on my way to his house and tried calling him again but still he wouldn't pick up.

On reaching the place, I paid the driver and hurried towards his door. I rang his doorbell and waited for sometime but no one answered. Thinking that he was not home, I was calling Adam while turning back to leave but the door opened so I cut the call and turned around.

Standing at the door was none other than Susana dressed in nothing but a white t-shirt of Ashton with an annoyed expression on her face.

I don't know what was happening to me but seeing her like that I felt this very weird feeling inside. Was it disappointment? But why? I was confused.

"What the fuck is your problem?", she spoke in a nasty tone to me.

Being the wimp I am, I was a little intimidated by her but still I politely told her, "I work at the Blue Island Records and I'm here to collect some documents from Ashton. It's urgent. ". I couldn't tell her that I worked for Ashton.

Her annoyed expression turned to an ugly scowl. She opened her mouth to tell me something but before she could Ashton's voice came in, "Who is it Suzy?", and no later did he complete that sentence he himself came wearing nothing but a pair of jeans and his hair messed up. He did not notice me standing there because his view was blocked by Susana.

"I told you to stay in ....." before he could complete his sentence his eyes found me and he looked a little shocked?

The feeling what I had on seeing Susana was nothing compared to what I was feeling right now on seeing Ashton like that with her.

"Oh, it's alright Ashton. I can handle this lying piece of trash for you. She said she worked at Blue Island and was here for you", she said laughing in a condescending manner.

I was hurt by her words but what hurt me more was Ashton just standing there like that.

Ashton cut me off when I was about to answer her back, "No she really works there for Adam. I know her", he told her.

I couldn't look at either one of them but then Aston spoke to me, so I had to look at him.

"What are you doing here? Did I not tell you to not disturb me until 12", he asked me a little angrily.

"Pathetic", Susana commented still standing there.

"I-I am sorry Mr. Stone, but I-I was sent by Mr. Brown here to c-collect some files that he needs very u-urgently. He even tried to call you but you d-didn't pick up the phone", I stuttered after which his expression softened and he even seemed a bit guilty.

My phone started ringing again and it was Adam, so I quickly picked up thanking god for the interruption.

"What happened did you get it?", he asked me

"No-no, I just reached his place and was about to get them"

"Is Ashton there?"

"Yes he is and I-I think you should talk to him"

Before Adam could reply me, I pulled my phone and said to Ashton, "Mr. Stone, Mr. Brown wants to t-talk to you", and handed him my phone.

Ashton quietly took my phone and started talking to Adam, while Susana shot me a dirty look and walked away. 

I couldn't summon my courage to explain to him why I was here so I was thankful Adam called right on time. Judging by Ashton's response I could make out Adam told him about the files.

When their conversation ended, Ashton gave me my phone back and told me softly, "Hey come inside, I'll get the files for you and I'll drop you back."

"No, it's alright, you should attend to your guest. Anyway, I have the cab on wait so I should hurry up", I lied to him.

He just looked at me and then went to get the files. 

When he came back with the files, I thanked him and took the files from him. Without waiting for any reply, I just left from there.

I started walking and on the way I booked a cab. The cab picked me up and dropped me at the Blue Island Records and I quickly made my way towards Adam's office.

Just when I knocked in and entered, they were about to leave.

"Ah, here are the files that we were waiting for", Adam said to the other man present in the room taking the files from me.

"Right on time. Thank you Mr. Brown", the other man said while taking the files then nodded at me with a polite smile and left.

"Thank you Aubrey!", Adam said to me with a smile.

And then at that time an idea struck me.

"Adam, can I request you for something", I asked him gently.

"Of course Aubrey! What is it?

"I was wondering if I could get a place to work from here for the times if it is not necessary to be with Ashton. You know it is weird for me to always go back and forth from his place and I am afraid that it will get unwanted attention someday"

"Now that you mention it, I think you're right. You can have my wife Gianna's office. Since she is pregnant and is taking care of our son now, she doesn't work here. You can move in any time you want, the keys will be at the reception. I will inform Ashton and the others too.

I thanked Adam. 

After today I didn't think I could go back to his place again. I was upset with myself and him. Whatever he does his none of my business but I didn't deserve to be treated the way I was treated today.
