5. Sexy zombie panda

"Mom?" I speak looking around.
I walk towards the switch of the lights.

The lights switch on without me reaching even halfway towards the switch board.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATTT!!!" Everyone shouts holding balloons, gifts, cards and wearing birthday caps. It looks like it's my seventh birthday.

Then I spot mom. In the middle of all the crowd of my friends, family and that weird couple who lives right across the street. She looks okay. Tristy and Matt are also there holding balloons and a cardboard that says 'Till death do us apart'. They seriously left that ball for this surprise but still I would not forgive them for ditching me.

"Mom, you called me for this? God, I was so worried." I say rubbing my forehead.

"Happy birthday sweetheart." She says hugging me.

"Thankyou everyone." I say it to everyone and then all of them starts to scatter around the house.
I've always been excited for my birthdays but after getting a shock about my mom, I had to calm myself first. Everyone knows how much I love my mother. She's done everything for me and Nate and now I am ready to do anything for her. She means the world to me.

I smile and someone coughs.

I turn around and see Luke standing awkwardly. I almost forgot about him.

"Umm, mom, this is Luke. He drove me here because you called me saying that something's wrong which I can clearly see was a lie. I mean, who gives someone a heart attack on her birthday? And of course, Tristy and Matt were nowhere to be found." I say the last line giving a death glare to both of my best friends who stand around the cake table clearly confused about why Luke Barrington entered my house with me in a formal suit.

"Thankyou, dear. Come join us." Mom holds his hand.

"No, thank you, Miss Swan but I think I should go." He replies so politely. He's such a fake. I've never seen him being so polite. He's even rude to teachers and the principal.

He looks at me and winks.

"Yeah, I think he should go. I'll just take him outside and say my goodbyes." I drag him outside.

"Why were you so nervous? Your mom liked me. Why wouldn't she? I am the perfect guy." He says when we get outside. He is enjoying this a little too much.

"Yeah, that's the reason." I reply folding my arms.

"Happy birthday, hot nerd" He says looking down right into my eyes. His smile is so beautiful.
Wait. Hot nerd?

"God, why can't you just stop this." I say stomping my foot after which I hear laughter. Sexy laughter.

"Because I love it when you hate me."

I just responded with an eye roll to which he chuckled and went to get into his car.

"See you tomorrow nerd. Wear something nice to school." He says just before driving away.

I couldn't contain my smile. Before thinking too much, I get back inside and we spend the whole night eating and watching movies and playing games. By the way, it's a school night. God bless me tomorrow because I'll be too sleepy to even walk.

I think I've been sleepwalking in the corridors. We didn't get even a minute of sleep last night and now I need to survive the school hours without sleeping cause if I sleep in any of my classes, I would get detention, which means more time till I get home. I just need to go home and sleep.
