13. Turning into a werewolf

The sound of the chiming bell brings me back to the real world, which is right now in the chemistry class. Students enter the class in groups, busy talking among themselves and mindlessly taking their usual seats. I just happen to wish that he won't come to the class today for whatever reason and save me from the embarrassment of last night's dream. I stare at my watch, waiting for the second hand to strike at 12.

8 seconds left. I take a look at the door. No one's coming.

4 seconds left. Still no one. I thank God for listening to my prayers for the first time.

The second bell rings and... he comes running inside the class in his oh-so-cool blue denim jacket over a white t-shirt and ripped jeans. Why does he have to dress like a teenage model everyday to school? He trips over Mrs Smith, our weird chemistry teacher, who I think is a part of a cult group and dissects infants for sacrificial practices. Everybody laughs hysterically watching Mrs Smith holding her foot in her hand and shouting at Luke. The whole class knows she has a tiny crush on Luke since the first day he entered her class. I don't think she'll punish him or anything for this.

"I am sorry, Mrs Smith. That was a total mistake." He looks at her with pained expressions which totally looks fake.

"Luke Barrington, Deten..." She speaks finally. Yes, say it.

"I'll just go and sit." He interrupts her, saving himself from the detention and she let him go just like that. She's totally in love with him.

He throws his body onto the seat next to mine while panting because of all the running. I don't look at him and just mind my own business while he's constantly staring at me to get a reaction out of me.

I snap. "What do you want?"

He smiles with his teeth, realising he did it. "You're acting weird today." Luke says leaning towards my ear.

I lightly bang at the table and speak with a sharp voice. "I am not. It's just another normal school day and I am trying to get through it so if you could please mind your own business and stop being so annoying, it'll be a great help." He just leans back on his chair comfortably, ignoring how I snapped at him seconds ago.

I know he's not gonna let this one go. He's too stubborn and annoying for his own good.

During the whole class, he just scrutinizes me. Closely watching my every moment. My thighs under my skirt start sweating and I am constantly moving them up and down involuntarily. My fingers are busy rolling a pen on the table which I usually do when I am stressed out.

I get fed up and stomp out of the class picking up my stuff. I just keep walking and reach the school's football field, I take deep breaths and calm myself down.
Why is he affecting me so much? I need to get a grip on myself.

"Hey!" I hear a voice from a distance behind me and turn around to see.

"Matt." I stride towards him, snatch his bag and open it.

"Hey, miss? Personal boundaries?" He steps back.

I take out a chocolate bar which I knew he would be having and eat it.

"Nooo! You can't eat that. That's mine." He tries to take it back. I just step back and glare at him.

"You don't want to mess with me right now." I give him a look at which he laughs and says "Okay okay. Someone's having a bad day. Periods?" I just roll my eyes at the stupid minds of this generation's boys who think everything that's happening to a girl is related to her periods. Like, if right now my eyes start glowing yellow and I grow lots of facial hair around my cheeks, they'll blame that too on periods and not even think about the possibility of me turning into a werewolf.
