My heart raced in excitement as I threw on a green sweater with gold stars and planets on it.
"I can't believe it's so close to christmas!" I said to myself.
I had to go to a party that my friends were doing for christmas and I couldn't wait to see Maddie. I turned toward a mirror that shined and glistened the pretty colors of my fairy lights. I walked over and saw myself in the mirror but almost jumped forgetting that I dyed my hair to a ginger red. Will he reconize me? No of course he will why wouldn't he? My mind raced and thoughts flew around my head like pesky birds.
My heart wanted to break for no reason and a weird feeling took over my stomach as I looked at a picture of me and Maddie hanging on the side of my mirror. Maddie looked so happy in the picture and so did I but a terrible feeling took over my mind as I looked at Maddie longer. All of a sudden I took out my phone with out thinking twice and sent a text.
'Maddie can you and me just hang out instead of going to the party?' I felt my heart speed up as I watched the text suddenly send. As chat bubbles popped up I felt my stomach drop and my mind race even more.
'Sure, is something wrong?' My thumbs stayed at the side of my phone waited for me to think of what I wanted to send.
'No I just want to hang out with you.' I said and then sat my phone face down on my desk. I looked up at the stars above my head that shined down into my room. A day dream then came to my head of me getting fallen angel wings and flying to the moon.
Not too long after I sent the text Maddie knocked on the trapdoor to my room. I opened it to see a surprised look on his face.
"You dyed your hair!" Maddie said touching my hair and looking me up and down. I smiled as Maddie blabbered on and on about stupid things I had missed. Halfway through him talking Maddie stopped and looked at me with his icy blue eyes.
In embarressment I lifted my head and looked straight at him in silence hoping he wasn't mad at me for not listening. A frown made its way onto Maddie's face all of a sudden like what he was talking about didn't even matter any more. Worry flooded through Maddie's eyes and body language but I tried not to make it seem to obvious that I saw and knew what emotions was going through his brain.
"Sorry I zoned out and....." I said trailing off into my brain.
Maddie's brows suddenly slanted up ward to show the worry more clearly on his face. I felt fear as Maddie suddenly held his arms out indicating that he wanted to give me a hug. Warm tears fell down my cheak as I ran into Maddie's arms and felt his grip tighten. A sudden feeling of safeness flooded through my blood as I felt the heat and his head resting on mine.
"You don't need to be sorry, I am always here for you even if you don't want to talk." I nodded still in Maddie's arms. After a few minutes or so I pulled away and saw snow fall. In a little bit of rage and excitement I took a blanket and opened my window.
Maddie chuckled and sat on the window seal with me, as we watched the snow I felt all mybad thoughts leave my head. I felt happiness and it was nice. This was the first time I had felt happiness on christmas eve. I turned to see Maddie smiling as a few snow flakes would hit his face.
I smiled and turned to look at all the fine white powder hit the ground. The world had felt like it had stopped or at least gone in slow motion as I watched this terrible yet beautiful snow. I wanted this to never end. Maddie seems so happy and he doesn't seem unhappy or sad right now just like me. Maddie turned to me and smiled.
"So what's your favorite color?" I blinked and smiled as my mind rushed through the three colors.
"Green or red, What about you?" Maddie laughed and and unzipped his jacket only to point to his purple shirt.
I smiled and looked at the stars and the snow. Awkward silence sat between me and Maddie so to raise the mood I jumped up and turned on my Pandora. As the music started to play I sat down on the window seal again with Maddie.
"If you could have any animal as a pet what would you choose?" I asked in an intense voice.
"A snake of any kind or a bearded dragon." I chuckled at the thought of Maddie being surrounded by lots of reptiles kissing him up and down.
Maddie looked at me, without having to ask for my answer I thought for a while.
"A scottish wild cat or a scottish cat with the folded ears." Maddie smiled and looked at the snow and silence grew between us once more.
I wanted to fall asleep as the silence came between us even more. Maddie suddenly reached his hand over and gently placed it on mine. My hand burned as the warmth from his hands transfered to mine.
"If you had one day to live what would you do?" Suddenly the sounds of the world around me grew louder.
I couldn't place my finger on what I wanted to say and the thought of it made tears form in my eyes. I opened my mouth but didn't make a sound. My mind shut off all of a sudden and I felt confused and sad.
"I...don't know..." I said quietly.
