Kyles pov

"You have a very nice home." stan commented.

"Thank you," Kyle said blankly going down another hallway. He stopped three doors down and entered his room. Stan followed hesitantly.

Kyle took off his prince's rob and sat criss-cross applesauce on his bed. Stan couldn't help but smirk.

"You seem loyal... I'm going to take you into town tomorrow and you can help me with the community I suppose." Kyle says sighing tiredly, it was, late at night.

"I won't fail you sir." stan says.

"Good," Kyles says thinking, While his stomach growled.

"Is there anything else I can do for you sir?" stan asks.

"Do you know where the kitchen is?" Kyle smirked.

"Yes sir." stan says.

"Ok, surprise me," Kyle says laying back onto his bed.

"Yes, sir stan says leaving quickly.

--------------------

We rode into town. Me on my horse and stan on his wolf. The town seemed different today. All the elves were stressed and tense. This made me worried.

"Does anything seems a little off to you?" I ask stan.

"Yes my lord, it does..." stan says. I cringe a little. I'm not that formal.

"Stan you can just call me Kyle," I say leading us down the main street.

"Yes, my lo- I mean Kyle," he says taking note.

"People seem scared... kyle," he says trying to use my name.

"Ya... they do" I answer. It's like everyone and everything was holding there breath.

"Come on... follow me this way." we head towards the border of our small kingdom. There's a cabin by some woods that separate the elf kingdom from the grand wizards kingdom.

The woods are very thick and only a couple people can travel through them making it out alive. Nevermind getting lost in them and dying, its the barbarian you want to watch out for. If he sees you he will most likely kill you. Especially since Craig died... nobody really dared to travel through the woods.

The woods have been nicknamed the downhill woods, cause it only gets worst. Luckily I know the barbarian personally. His name is tweek and im on his good side.

I stop at the cabin and stan looked confused.

"If you dont mind me asking, but why are we here?" stan asks.

"This is a friends house. His name is Clyde. He was kicked out of the wizards kingdom. He's also 14 and since nobody else would take him in, we allowed his to live here as long as he scouts the woods for us." I say walking up to his door.

"But there's a path from the grand wizards kingdom to here." stan says confused.

"Yes there is but about halfway through the path fades away and people usually get lost... or killed," I say.

"Ya I know what you mean..." stan says.

"You know the barbarian?" I ask.

"Mmm we can talk about it later," he answers. I turn and knock on the door. In no time it opens.

"Oh-. um hello my lord. Please come in." Clyde says opening the door.

"Hello, Clyde. So town seems strange and we just wanted to know how things have been over here around the border," I say in a confident voice. I also took notice of his house... it's trashed but I dont know what I was expecting. I gave a 14-year-old a house.

"Umm... I actually iv been meaning to talk to you about that. I traveled into them about a mile and found about 4... and a half soldiers. All fatasses." Clyde says.

"Anything on them, "I ask him, stan standing close by my side.

"Yes some classified letters that were going to get sent to your dad," Clyde says.

"Let me see them," I say.

He passes me 5 letters. I dont bother to read them but I hand them to stan.

"Anything else Clyde," I ask him.

"Yes... um, all of the body's were overkilled and in very gruesome ways. So there some blood on the letters and I notified the town to not go into the woods," he says not making eye contact.

"Ok... that explains why everyone is so on edge... when you went into the woods did you see tweek?" I ask him. Clyde seems confused.

"The barbarian?" I ask again.

"Ohhh... yes," he says. I was really surprised.

"How is he!?" I ask.

"I dont know, I ran for my life, but he looks... ok I guess. He seems really skinny." Clyde says.

"Yes but he's always been skinny," I answer.

"Nah dude, like really skinny and he's way madder than usual I guess," Clyde says.

"Maybe I should bring him food." I think out loud.

"I would not go into those woods if I were you. I saw him only a mile in and his house- well kinda house is around 5 miles in the center of the woods where the trail ends and people get lost. He on a killing spree right now." Clyde says with fear in his voice.

"Ok thank you, Clyde, ill think about it," I say. "Well, I'll be on my thank you for keeping watch," I say handing a small bag of gold.

"Thank you, my lord," Clyde says happily. "I can get more tacos!" he says running to a back room, while stan and I show our selves out.

overkill- excessive use, treatment, or action; too much of something.
