Eighth Visit

Niall and Louis went back to visit Zayn the next day because Louis insisted and practically begged Niall to come with him. This time Louis wanted to sing to Zayn, but he needed someone to play the guitar so what better choice than to take Niall with him? Louis forced Niall to learn all the chords to the song he was planning to sign Zayn and Louis prayed that this helped Zayn wake up.

Niall and Louis came in the sad-looking hospital room, Niall with guitar in hand. Louis pulled up the same old metal chair and Niall stood next to the closed door. Louis gave Niall a look and Niall started playing the beginning chords.

Louis angelic voice echoed through the room as he began to sing, You Are My Sunshine.

Louis finished singing the song and his throat felt tangled up and thick, no matter how many times he tried to swallow the lump it was still there… Now, that Niall had finished playing guitar. Louis stared at the unmoving Zayn and Lou’s eyes filled up with unshed tears and his fingers trembled just like his bottom lip. Louis bit his lip and all the tears left his eyes leaving moist trails behind. Louis sobbed uncontrollably and Niall looked down, he wanted to go hug his friend, but he knew it was best to leave him to cry. Louis took Zayn hand and he thought he saw the heart machine skip a heartbeat, but he knew it was probably his imagination.

“Hey…Louis….Did you see that?” Niall asked staring dumbfounded at the heart machine.

“What?” Louis asked with his voice weak.

“The machine…” Niall said, “It…it skipped a beat…”

“It was probably a lag or something, Niall,”
