Marilyn's POV
"So, you'll be fine here?" I ask Raven as she shoves more yogurt in her mouth. I look down at our four month baby. It's growing more and more.
"Yeash," her response is muffled by her eating. She swallows her yogurt and smiles at me. "I'll be fine. You're just going to the grocery store, babe. It's not going to be that long." She giggles at my worried-ness. I kiss her cheek and she scrunched her nose. I turn and start to head out. Right at the door she grabs my hand. I turn my head and she stands up on her tippy toes to kiss my lips. "Bye, Brian." She hands me my keys and smirks.
"I won't be long." I state. She rolls her eyes and heads back to the couch. I walk out the door and get in my car. The ten minute drive to the local store is quiet, I didn't quite feel like listening to any music. I pull into the semi-empty parking lot and park the car. I get out and twirl my keys on my finer as I go inside of the market. I hum our song 'The Beautiful People' since that's the first tune that pops into my head. I grab a cart and reach down into my pocket for my list.
Pick up:
-Loaf of bread
-milk (2%)
-more strawberry ice cream :)
-bananas
Thanks,
Raven <3
I smile at her little list she gave me. I proceed down to the produce. I find a not quite ripe bananas. Perfect. I then pick up the other items. I get the usual states, but I shrug them off. I don't feel like scaring them today. If Raven was here I would... I shove my cart over to the checkout lane. I place my items on the conveyor belt. It slowly goes up to the teenage employee.
"Hi, h-how are you?" the teenage girl asks in a meek voice. I give her a warm smile.
"Fine, you?" the scanner beeps as she hovers the barcode of each item on it. She gives me a nervous giggle, and she starts to blush.
"I'm okay." She smiles with her braces gleaming. I don't mind her little teenage flirting. She seems innocent. Like the cliche nerd you see on tv with a twist of dark side. "What's your name?"
"Brian, you?" I decided to use my real name today.
"Candice."
"Um, are you done?" I ask politely.
"Y-yeah. Sorry." She apologizes. She sacks the items and places them in my cart. "So, what are you doing now?" I wanna be nice, and perhaps invite the nice teen over, but there are so many things wrong with that. Her parents might kill her, right? Plus, if I invite her to lunch or something she might take it the wrong way. Like a date or something.
"I was just going to go home." I say.
"Maybe we could go out to lunch, my break starts in a half hour. We can-"
"I'm sorry, I have a pregnant wife at home." I try to say as nice as possible. Her face shows disappointment.
"Cool. Well, have a great day." She says. I smile to her and nod. I push the cart to my car. I stuff the bags into the front seat.
I make my way home. I drive at a steady pace. I turn on the radio and The Offspring comes on. I smile at the song. Finally, something not that crappy. My phone begins to ring and I reach for it. I answer it and put it up against my ear.
"Hello?" I start to hear screaming in the background, and a few voices which sound like they belong to my fellow band members.
"I-it's me Jeordie." He says fast.
"Jeordie? What's going on?" I try to stay calm.
"Jeordie, I called the ambulance they'll be here soon!" Pogo shouts in the background.
"Jeordie! What's going on?" I shout getting more nervous.
"Raven! We came to visit, and-and... Just come home, we'll explain!" I throw my phone aside and press the gas down. I speed down to our home. I pull into the driveway and run inside. The door is already open.
"Raven?" I hear her crying and yelling. I follow the noise. I end up in the bathroom. Everyone is crowding her. "Move!" I scream at them. I shove them aside and there is a puddle of blood around her. She is on her knees crying and staring at the floor. I go down to my knees not caring about my pants. I hug her tightly. "Please be okay." I whisper.
"My baby!" she shouts over and over.
"Please move, sir." A man tells me. I turn to see a man in a uniform probably from the ambulance.
"Take care of her!" I yell at him. I notice that I'm crying as well. A couple of other men come in and carry her away. My band mates follow them outside. I rush to the ambulance car. I jump in.
"Are you family?" one man asks me.
"I'm her fucking husband!" I yell, again.
"We'll follow you guys." Ginger tells me. I nod. They lay Raven down on a stretcher inside the vehicle. I grab her hand and squeeze it tightly. She's shaking badly which causes me to go insane. I hate seeing her in so much pain.
"What's going to happen? What about my baby?" She asks really fast. I open my mouth to talk but they interrupt me.
"We'll have under some care. Check out to make sure everything is okay." A paramedic answers calmly. I swallow down my sob. I have to stay strong for Raven. She begins to breath rapidly. Her face marks stress all over.
"Brian, what if-what if-" knowing where this conversation was going, I immediately put a stop to it. I don't want her jumping to, I guess you would call it, a glum topic. It's best for both of us.
"The baby will be fine." I lift her hand, and kiss it. I give a light squeeze, like a usually do, hoping it would comfort her. She settles down some, thank god. The ambulance truck pulls into the front of the entrance with ease. I let out a shaky sigh, and hope for the best. The paramedics carry my bloody wife over into a wheel chair. I quickly follow them. The sound of my footsteps turn into multiple footsteps. I turn my head for a glimpse to see. Ginger, Twiggy, and Pogo are there following us down the blank halls.
We reach to a room. They push her inside. Right when we all try to go inside a doctor slams the door in our face. My old self would have broke the door down, but I'm not that kind of person anymore. My wife really calmed me down, I have no idea how. A nurse walks up to us.
"You need to check in, then family only can see her for now." She says in a way that she's been saying this line over and over again.
"Are you fucking serious?" I ask in a bitter voice. "I just want to stay in there, with my wife, to make sure our child is okay." I say, nearly shouting.
"It's okay, Manson. We'll check in and you can go." Jeordie tells me in a calm voice. He tugs on my arm in the direction of the front desk. "It's okay, everything will work out." He whispers to me.
"What if it isn't going to be okay." I say with a crack in my voice.
"Everything will work out itself. Okay?"
"Alright... Okay." I mumble.
