           "I remembered you from the shooting ! I'm real sorry bout that." He says shaking my hand letting me in the big wooden door "it's okay youngin" I say looking around the living room "how you been man?" I ask limping over towards the couch and taking a seat . Ebony sits by me, she has a bandage 🤕 across her forehead from me putting my hands on her that day she wanted to be flirty . "I've been okay ! This wheelchair life ain't for me you know! Moms struggling to take care of me and shit ! Ain't enough money to go around." He says "but I ain't complaining we been through worse" he rubs his hands together "I feel you youngin I feel you ." I say putting my hand around Ebony's neck giving it a squeeze "you good?" I ask her "mmhmm" she says. Samuel's mother comes out and greets us with homemade sugar cookies and tea "thank you Mrs. Carpenter." Ebony and I say in unison "I'm so glad you saved my son's life I don't know how to repay you" she says "no need to repay me ma'am . I would do it all over again if needed be" I say taking a sip of my warm tea . After hours of conversation I ask to use the restroom . Samuel shows me where it is , I lock the door and pull out my checkbook , taking two pages out I write $2000,000,000 on one to Samantha Carpenter and on the other one I write $980,000 to Samuel Carpenter IIII . I sign my name and put my pen and checkbook back in my bag . "Ebony!" I call out as I walk into the living room seeing her laughing with some short stud "yes babe" she says with worry in her voice "here" I hand her my bag "who's this May I ask?" I look to the mother "ohh this , this is my 15 year old daughter sanni Carpenter , she just got in from a date" Samantha smiles "ohh wow well that's awesome how was your date?" "Samantha , I know that you are going through a lot and putting food on the table isn't easy , I know that taking care of children isn't easy either . But everyday you get up and do it without complaining. I'm very proud of you and I would love to help out the best way I could . I hand her the check as she starts to cry "Reece , baby I cant except this" she cries "Samantha this is all yours . I'm good I have what I want and I have what I need. You deserve it ! It's all yours ." I give her a hug don't go busting yo ass now "thank you thank you so much ! Not only for this but for saving my baby boy ! Without you he wouldn't be here no more !" She cries tears of joy and happiness. "Thank you , Thank you so much" she cries "you're very welcome !" I hug her back than walk over to Samuel "listen man , These streets ain't for you . You're only 18 man ! I wanna see you get a girlfriend , get engaged , married and start your own family . I want you to be great you understand me ? I need you to be great . Our folks are being put six deep our folks are being killed off like nothing ! Ain't nobody really caring about us . We all we got and I mean that !" I say as I pull the other check out my pocket. "I want to start you In the right path because I don't want to see my young black folks go down I don't want to see no one get shot up on the side for wearing a certain color of their liking . I don't want to see my future children thuggin it out . I love you man and I see your moms really cares about you ! She loves you she needs you. Do me a favor and triple this ! I hand him the check and he starts to cry "money ain't everything baby" he says "but the heart is everything and more!" We say in unison "Only person that we fighting is ourselves and through ourselves we need to fight for the better" we say in unison as I hug him and pat his back . We all say our goodbyes.
