Damien's POV:

Another letter from Max. What the fuck is it about 'I don't want to have any contact with you' does he not understand? I guess it won't get through to him until I actually go down there and say it directly to his face. Upon opening the letter, I feel a sense of regret wash over me.

Dami,

I'm doing okay. Except for the other inmates constantly threatening me, I'm okay. I wanna see you. Please find it in your heart to come visit me? I love you, sis.

                                                                                                                                                                                      Love,

                                                                                                                                                                                      Maxie

"Huh, you're gonna see me, alright." I say to myself. "It'll be the last time, too."

~

"Sis!" Max says, holding his arms out for a hug. I quickly push him away. I don't want to touch a psychopath, like him. "What's wrong?"

"I have told you, several times, don't contact me. Don't write to me, don't call me. Don't even dream of me." I replied, angrily. "And don't call me 'sis' anymore, either. Far as I'm concerned, my older brother's dead." With that, I walked away, leaving behind the one man who I looked up to as a brother. After what he's done to Monte, he doesn't deserve to get out of here. Not even in a body bag.

Craig's POV:

Monte had his head in my lap. Definitely not like that. Get your minds out of the gutter! He was sleeping on the couch, laying next to me. I didn't want to disturb him, even if I was really thirsty. I heard a knock on the door. Great. I gotta disturb him anyways.

"Monte." I gently nudge his shoulder, trying to wake him up a bit. He stirs a bit, but slowly opens his eyes.

"What's going on?" He asks, groggily.

"Babe, I gotta see who's at the door." Another set of four knocks. "I'll be back soon, okay?"

"Okay." Monte lifts his head up, just enough for me to get up. As I walk to the door, I look back to see Monte put his head back down on the couch. He must be really tired. Looking back to the door, I take a quick glance out of the peep hole. At first, all I see is a mess of wavy, blond and red hair, but they quickly turns their head. Damien.

"Hey." I say, softly, opening the door.

"Hey, how is he?" Damien asks as I step aside to let her in.

"Sleeping." I reply, looking back over to Monte, still curled up on the couch. "Want anything to drink?"

"Water would be nice." She replies, nodding slightly. "Craig, are you still getting letters from Max?"

"Not since last month." Wait, I didn't tell her about the letters. "How did you know about that?" I ask as I hand her a bottle of water.

"Ronnie told me." She replied, both of us trying not to wake Monte. "I had to go down to the prison, earlier. Just to tell him not to try and talk to me anymore. I'm wondering if he'll actually listen."

"I doubt it." Wait...what? "Did he keep sending you letters?"

"Yes." Damien took a quick sip of her water. "And I told him several times to stop. But he didn't listen. He acted like we were still siblings." Damien turned to face Monte, who was now only starting to wake up. "I'm sorry, Monte. I didn't man to wake you."

"You didn't." Monte replied,  half sleepily. "I need to get up, anyways."

"So, what all did he say in his letters?" I asked. I wanted to know what we were dealing with.

"I'll show you." Damien handed me one of the letters Max had sent her.

Dami,

I NEED to speak with you. Please come down here? It's about Monte. I just want to know he's okay. Look, I'm sorry about everything. I don't know what came over me, really. I just want you to be my lil sis again.

                                                                                                                                                                                          Love,

                                                                                                                                                                                       Maxie

"You didn't tel him anything, did you?" I asked, nervously.

"Hell no!" Damien replied, half angry. "After everything that fucker's done?" She seemed to calm down after a moment's silence. "Look, I love Monte. He's been my friend since Ronnie and Max first met. I would never betray him like that."

"I'm sorry, Damien." I looked down for a second, then back into her eyes. "I just can't be too sure these days. With Max and all, it's just...stressful."

"I know, Craig.  But Monte's gonna be fine. He's got us to protect him. Max has nobody. Not at this point." Damien's right. I flash a warm smile at her, pulling her into a hug. Monte's gonna be okay. I know he will be.
