Chapter 8: A Year after

It had been not long over a year since trigon was defeated and the madman robin called master had forced his hand, robin along with it, and shaped him to be everything the boy fought. His apprentice. A criminal. An Assassin. A killer. Immortal. Those were just a few. Trigon was defeated by his own puppets, robin and his master not long after the boy was recaptured. It had been eight months since robin realized his friends and former mentor were not coming to save him, so in the despair he already felt he added the new despair and turned it into anger. Hence how he got here.  Robin however didn't have time to think right now. He leaped nearly missing the rooftops ledge as he landed. He crouched out of sight, peering into one of the slanted windows. Two small figure were tied back to back. 'Those must be the twins' robin thought. Spotting his target he silently slipped into the large warehouse room through the window. Blending into the shadows robin walked around and scanned the area. 'Two guards by the door, three larger men by the targets, and no sign of the mastermind.' Robin silently noted. He waited. He couldn't act yet. Not until the mastermind was there. Robin's eyes darted to the widow where he spotted some hero's. They hadn't spotted him yet however. The door swooshed open and the hero's darted, presumably to the front entrance. Robin's attention turned back to the blonde man who had just walked in.

"'Yer parents owe me a lot 'o money! You two 'ill stay 'ere until 'ey pay me, and if 'ey don't........" The man said as he started walking toward the female twin.

"Then 'e're gonna 'ave some fun!" Came is smug finish.

The mans heavy accent wasn't pleasing, not to mention Robin was disgusted by this man. Was he really implying he'd do that to an eight year old little girl? Having had enough Robin grabbed his sniper from his back and quickly fastened the silencer. He also pulled out five daggers. He got on his stomach and set the sniper up before throwing his daggers as each of the guarding men sliding back to his gun he aimed at the frantic looking man and pulled the trigger right as Batman and Superman ran in. Robin quickly dropped running toward the kids just a few meters away he threw his gun back on his back and pulled out another dagger. The stunned hero's watched as he cut the children's restraints and picked them up.

"Hey! Put them down!" Superman yelled.

"No can do Clark!" Robin shot back.

"Robin!? Is that you!?" Batman called desperately.

"Tch." Was robin's only reply as he ran off.

-Break-

Robin knocked on a red door. A young couple came out to greet him.

"Safe and sound, just like we said." Robin told the couple as they grabbed their children.

"Thank you!" The woman cried.

"You have blood spattered are you hurt sir?" The younger boy asked.

"No I'm fine squirt. I can't say the same for those scary men though." Robin replied kindly.

"Here is your fee. There's an extra 100, you didn't have to kill them but they won't bother us anymore so for that we thank you." The man said handing robin the money.

Robin simply nodded and ran off with money in hand. He noticed his tailing party and took a few extra turns before losing them and slipping into the bases hideout. He placed his hand on the scanner and walked in. He handed Slade the money and went to leave.

"Robin there's an extra charge in here." Slade prompted.

"The family. They added it as their children's captor will no longer be bothering them." Robin replied.

"Here. Before I change my mind." Slade said handing him his earned 500 and the extra hundred.

Robin took it and thanked him. Slade would usually give robin any extra he got from his mission along with his 25 percent cut of the profits. If his mission didn't involve a fee Slade would usually give him 75-100 depending on their missions. Robin didn't really want the money but he took it and put it in a small box in his room along with the rest. Robin and Slade decided to stay in Trigons hideaway after defeating him. The titans didn't think they would so they never came looking, which robin knew. After he had it put away he walked back to main console room for mission report.

"How was your mission renegade?" Slade asked.

"All went well. The six men are dead, five killed with daggers to the heart and their leader killed with a single headshot. I made sure to check their pulses wearing gloves of course. The children were safely returned home where I received payment. I made a small detour to get rid of a couple tails and then reported to you to deliver the fee." Robin replied typing his mission report into his new report database.

"Very good. On to your next mission. mafia case. Complete it, return the boy home and collect payment. No survivors among the captors. Can you handle it?" Slade asked.

Robin nodded curtly.

"Good. Afterwards You will accompany me to a criminal minds meeting this evening. A small bird told me the hero's may show up and I'm going to use them as a distraction to steal Luther's newest tech. Meet me there, no detours." Slade briefed.

Robin simply nodded just finishing he report file. Turning off the computer, he followed Slade out. They went by rooftop like any good villain and arrived just before the ambush was supposed to start. Slade had of course tipped them off about it. As they waited Luther began speaking.

"As I've already mentioned, the control and tracking chip will be up for auction in 30 minutes. We have a new recruit with us this evening and I feel it is high time you all met him. Slade bring your apprentice please." Luther spoke.

Slade brought robin up and many recognized the young boy. Both from his hero days and his villain ones. Just as robin was going to speak the widows above smashed. Everyone turned toward them, while robin carefully grabbed the chip unnoticed and ran with his master. Everyone else soon followed suit while Luther began to scan the crowd noting his missing chip. The JLA and the Titans had both showed up and noticed the young boy among the crowd.

"Superman, raven and Starfire come with me!" Batman yelled running after the pair.

The three nodded and followed behind him. He wanted the flyers so they could get ahead while he shut down the electronic exists.

-break-

As Slade and Robin got to the exit they noticed it had been hacked. Robin quickly pulled out his small computer and began to hack the hacker. He watched as the door began to slowly lift showing he was successful. As they got out Superman, raven and Starfire were waiting for them, Batman right behind.

"There's no way that isn't robin. No one hacks me that fast." Batman yelled to the hero's from behind.

Robin turned around. "Congrats you finally found me. Not like you wanted to." Robin spat.

Every hero present was shocked at his statement. What did robin mean they didn't want to save him. Of course they did. Why would they have searched an entire year and still be searching if they didn't want their little bird back?
