Alexis Winter
RECAP
I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know." I fanned myself to avoid tears coming. Mason got up from his seat and leaned closer to me, wrapping himself into me while engaging in giving me a hug. I couldn't help but enjoy this nice hug I'm receiving so I wrapped my one hand behind his back and held it there in place, in sync with this contact.

Mason released the hug. I was actually enjoying the hug so much, I couldn't believe that I'm actually admitting this to myself. Slowly, my arm was hanging loosely and placed down on the bed. Mason still sat on the bed, leaving some space for me to get comfortable. Seeing him here, in the hospital again just to visit me, must mean something, right? Does he really feel bad for what he did? Is it because he is changing? Or just feels like he wants forgiveness just to move on from this bet he made?
I heard a long sigh come out from Mason. I looked back at him to pay attention to him. He opened his mouth to speak but I was afraid of what he was going to say.
"Look, you don't have to give me an answer yet." He dropped his glare before returning it back to my attention. I was so lost and confused about everything that's been happening to me within the past two days.
"All I ask from you", he looks in my eyes, holding my hand in between both his hands, reaching up to his lips to give me a small kiss, "Is to forgive me one day. Maybe after you take some time for yourself and want to try again but for real this time, I promise I'll do it right this time."
"Do what?" I puzzled.
"Treat you right. Alexis, for a minute, I forgot about the bet. In all honesty. There were times that when I was with you, I felt like the old me. The friend you knew from when we were little kids." I saw drops of tears coming down from his eyelids. I moved my hand from his hold, rubbing my thumb across his cheeks to wipe his face. His cheek felt warm and I didn't want to move my hand. He nustled his cheek into my hand more, his hand overlapping my hand.
"Take all the time you need to think about everything. Forgiving me, going out with me, and if you still want me in your life. I'll give you all the space and time in the world if that's what it takes, but I just don't want to lose you. You changed me for the better. And I am so so sorry again. For everything."
Damn. My lips started to tremble, my eyes started to water. My head went down because I couldn't stand the idea to have him see me like this. Even if he was just my friend or acquaintances, I would hate to look like this in front of people. Mason did the same thing that I did for him. He swiped his thumb across my cheek to stop crying. I could see the sadness in his eyes. I honestly hate myself.
The nurse came in to check up on me. "I'll see you later, I hope." Mason started to get up from the bed, leaned down and hit my cheek with his lips, indicating his goodbye. When Mason walked away, his hands were tucked inside his front pockets, head down low. He stopped to turn his head back to see me one more time before he fully stepped out.
After the nurse took a moment to review the paperwork, she stood over by me asking me a few questions.
