Mason Steele
I was heading to the cafeteria to grab some school lunch. I saw my friends and beautiful girlfriend already sitting at the table. When she saw me, my heart must've skipped a beat. I couldn't tell if it was because I really did lie to her about keeping a secret or realizing how lucky I am to have such a sweet, beautiful girl in my life. She gave me a smile with a wave hello as I threw her back a smile. I felt a bump when I saw Carter who was standing in front of me.
"Well. Well. Well. Look who it is. Mason Steele everyone!" Carter made an announcement, making a fool out of himself.
"What do you want, Carter?" I give up at this point now.
"Where's your girlfriend?" Carter looked around the room, trying to spot her.
"Leave her alone, Carter. I already told you this once, I'm telling you again. I'm not repeating myself after this," I hissed.
"Why should I leave her alone? She does know, doesn't she? Or does she not know and she still puts up with you?"
"Seriously? Cut the crap! Can't you find something better to do?"
"Hm, let's see." Carter tapped on his chin with his index finger. "Nope. This is more fun."
"Hey, baby. Did you like sleeping next to your Queen the other night?" I heard Hannah from a distance, standing behind me.
I turned around and started saying something back to her. "You and Carter must've done something to my drink. I couldn't remember what happened after the ball was over. You drugged me."
"But aren't you glad we're back together?" Hannah cried out.
"We are not together!" I insisted.
"Don't you remember feeling the rush of excitement? The energy? The fire and passion we created? You couldn't keep your hands off me. Just like old times," Hannah smirk as she went down memory lane in her imagination.
"It was amazing. I knew you wanted to dump Alexis and crawl back to me." Hannah let her fingers walk up to my shoulders but I slapped it away.
"You did what?" I turned around only to see Alexis standing by the lunch line to grab some napkins. "Is this why you couldn't tell me what was wrong last night?"
"Alexis. Please. It's not what you think." I pleaded out to her.
"To me, it looks like you went behind my back and cheated on me but couldn't tell me. I thought we said no more secrets?" I can hear her voice breaking. It shatters my heart. The last thing I wanted to do was break her. She's been fragile all her life. I was trying to avoid that. But now, I probably broke her into a million pieces that could not be put together.
"Baby, please. I didn't want to get you involved. I was only trying to protect you!"
