Alexis Winters
The ball was fun but all good things must come to an end. My friends and I surfed through the crowd to make our exit. I kept searching for Mason but I couldn't find him. "Hey, have you guys seen Mason?" I asked the girls.
"I thought he was behind us." Brooke thought.
"I thought he was already out there." Ariana thought.
"Mhm, I don't see him. Where could he have gone?" I pulled my cell phone out from my small purse and dialed for him. My thoughts were encircling my mind, imagining the worst case scenarios and my overthinking consuming me. I put the phone against my ear, hearing it ring.
One ring. No answer.
Two rings. No answer.
Three rings. He's not picking up. Mason, answer the phone, will you?
"Your call has been sent to a voice messaging system." The robot answered. "Please leave your name and number after the beep. Beep." I hung up the phone and put it back in my purse.
"No answer, huh?" I heard Matt asking, coming over to check up on the girls. I shook my head no. This was the best night ever after Mason was dancing with me but I have no idea where he could've gone. "I know this is a lot to ask but is it okay if one of you guys drop me off home?"
"Of course!" Ariana happily sang. "Anything for you, Alexis. We are your friends!"
"Yeah, totally." Brooke joined back in the conversation.
Trying to fight back more tears from coming out, I smiled and thanked them. The group left the hotel minus one person. Mason, wherever you are. Please be safe, I tried to ease my mind with a simple prayer.
