Let Me Sleep

~Aphmau Age 18~
I awoke to the beautiful face of Laurence and the crying of Dahlia. I just want to cuddle with dada Dahlia. I remove my leg from on top of his and attempt to pry myself free from his grip on my waist. I slid on my tank top and shorts before smelling a certain someone's diaper. I change her diaper before feeding her applesauce. I hear some sleepy footsteps head my way. A hand went and found my waist again before I felt a kiss on my neck. I tensed up, he knows I am annoyingly vulnerable right there. I turn around to see his smiling face. He's not wearing a shirt still, and I feel his body heat through my tank top making me blush.

"Laurence, we have to take care of Dahlia before your raging hormones." I said smiling.

"Well that was a little hurtful. And my hormones are normal, not raging!" Laurence said, hands on his hips pouting. I rolled my eyes before focusing back on our daughter. We have to feed Dahlia a tablespoon of blood each morning so she doesn't act up, I snuck some in her applesauce this morning so she would eat it and not spit it up. I'm a sneaky mom. Laurence started to heat up some bagels for breakfast. After Dahlia finished I put her in a little play pen she likes.

Laurence sat down at the table next to me and handed me the plate of a buttered bagel and some bacon. He was sitting closer to me than usual which made my insides flutter. Jeez I haven't felt like this for awhile now. It's nice. I ate my delicious bagel and bacon within five minutes. I gave Laurence a kiss on the cheek before going to take a shower. I just remembered that Laurence never told me what was on his mind yesterday.

So I'm having a pretty good day. But I think I need to have a talk with Aaron about how I can figure out who turned Aph's dad into a Shadow Knight. He has connections with places we don't, and also is good with all this whodunnit stuff. Dahlia starts to cry again. I pick her up from her play pen and swing side to side cradling her in my arms. I was also humming a little tune to calm her down. I hear a door close and felt a hand around my waist. I feel a little kiss on my back. Oh she got payback. I set the now sleeping Dahlia down, so glad she's an easy sleeper. I wrap my arms around her neck as she leans on my chest for a comforting hug.

"Laurence, we got a little distracted yesterday so you never told me what was on your mind." She looked up into my eyes curiously.

"It was really nothing." My eyes strayed from hers.

"Laurence, talk to me."

"Here, let's sit down." We sit at the couch next to each other. "I have just been thinking about your dad and how we never found his killer. I want closure Aph, I want to know you will be safe." My head dips in my hands.

"Laurence this is part of my life now, I will never be 100% safe from anything but you, Dahlia, and my friends. And my dad died long ago, the thing you see now of him is only a Shadow Knight, nothing else. We can search for the killer of my father if you need to find closure, I will follow you anywhere you need to go." I intertwined my fingers with hers.

"Gosh dang it Aphmau."

"What did I do now?"

"Stop being such a babe."

"I can't help it." She winks and smiles.
