How did he see past me?

~Age 18~
My sense of smell led me to one of the few people I tried to kill, Aaron.

He quickly looked in my direction, as if he sensed me. I looked away quickly, and made my move to walk fast toward my house. I swear I heard him behind me.

I opened my door and closed it quickly, just to lock it.

A medium loud knock appeared at the door.

I should answer and act like I don't know him.

I opened it slowly.

"Hello?" I questioned softly.

"Hi, I'm Lord Aaron may I come in?" He questioned. Uh? No?

"Yeah... sure." I opened the door more to let him in. "You can take a seat on the couch while I make tea." I said politely.

"Thank you." He replied after telling his guards to stay outside.

I quickly made the tea, and added a little drop of lemon in mine. I walked over to the couch and placed down the tray, grabbing mine as I handed him his.

"So, Aphmau? How long are you going to keep this up?" He questioned taking a small sip from his tea.

He knew...

Somehow, I knew he knew in the first place.

So why did I let him in?

"How did you know?" I whispered.

"I sensed it." He said tapping his head.

"I tried to hide it so well too." I mumbled.

"Maybe if you didn't feed this morning, it would've been different." He said.

"Well I was hungry, so don't blame me. Blame my dad." I said nodding my head.

"Heh, I do in some ways. So any questions?" He questioned.

"How's Laurence..." It just slipped off my tongue.

He smiled, then frowned.

"He's different. He's still searching for you, but he also had the distraction of Abby. I don't know her last name by memory." He said.

Abby?

I thought she was a goner! (I was hoping a little bit too, but I'm not going to say that).

"Can you please not tell him where I am? I'm begging! I'll do anything but kill humans!" I said anxiously.

"Well, I guess I won't. But... On 3 conditions." He said.

"Go on..."

"1st I'll point the direction I saw you in, 2nd you can't move from this village till he finds it and see's you, and third you let me stay the night." He said.

"Okay, I will follow these rules." I said holding out my hand to shake on it. He shook it.

"By the way, I knew you were already here by observations from my guards. So I already told him the direction. He'll most likely be here in less than a week." Aaron said.

"Dang it! Really?" Part of me was mad, but the other side of me was raging with happiness.

"Yep, I just came here for a meeting and to clarify that you were actually here." He said.

"Whatever. You can sleep in my room or the couch. I'll be up all night so it won't really matter." I told him, standing up, grabbing the glasses.

"Okay, thanks." He told me.

I finished washing the dishes, only to find myself sitting on the picture drawing an escape map in case I need to run.
