Bella's Sister

Preface Revised

    I decided to redo the preface I feel like it wasn't the best piece of work. So here it is revised!

"Hey Diego, it me Lexi..again, please call me back. I know we left on a weird note, but let's figure this out! This is your baby too. Please call me back.....bye...please I can't do this alone." Alexandra Lynne Swan cried into her cellphone. She sat on her white bed in her mothers home in Phoenix, Arizona. She looks out the window. The sun was shining down on the little grass that made up the yard. 

Tears spilled out of the young girls blue eyes. She licked her chapped lips and brushed the curly brown hair out of her eyes. Lexi just found out she was two months  pregnant. She told her mother first, then her sister, then last night her boyfriend Diego. She asked him to her at their favorite park. Lexi wore her favorite dress and  a pair of flats. She even straightened  her hair for him. 

Lexi sat on the bench for thirty minutes waiting, when he finally came he smelt like another girls perfume. "Hey babe, sorry I'm late Jack needed some help" He said. Lexi looked straight forward, "So Jack wears PINK perfume now?" She asks holding the picture of their babies ultrasound tightly. Diego gulped down the frog in his throat. "I'm sorry. I fucked up" He said grabbing her hand. She ripped it out of his grasp, "You really did Diego, you royally fucked up! Okay! You doing this is us is the last thing I need.. the last thing we need!" She stood up and threw the picture at him. 

He  uncrumpled the photo of the ultrasound. "What is this?" He asked looking up. "That's your baby. That's our baby" Lexi said running a hand through her hair. "What! How!" He asked yelling. "Ever heard of sex Diego? We had it!" She yelled crying. "We used a condom!" He yelled, "It's not my kid" He said giving her back the picture. "You don't remember prom do you?" She asked looking at her baby. Then it was like a light bulb went off in his head. "I forgot" He whispered. "Oh god I forgot to put one on" He sat down and ran his hand through his hair. "Did you tell Renee?" He asked looking up. "I took care of my family." She said. Diego started crying. "I need to go home" He said. "I can't see you again" He said shaking his head. 

"You don't mean that" Lexi said looking at him. He started walking away she grabbed his wrist. He turned around and kissed her. "I love you but I can't be with you" He said then ran as fast as he could away from her. Lexi sat on their bench and cried. She looked at the picture of the little baby inside of her. She put her head in her hands and cried. Lexi knew she was doing this alone. But she still hoped he would come back. Lexi slammed her hand onto the bench. There was a sharp pain in her hand and looked, there was a large splinter in her hand. Underneath ALS + DEM was carved forever in the wood of the bench. She remembered the day they carved that. It made her heart hurt. She stood up and walked to her car.

(Six months pregnant)

Lexi sat at the kitchen table sitting across from Renee and her stepfather. "I think I need to move back to Forks. I need a fresh start. I need it for me and I need it for her. I can't bring my daughter into a town that thinks she's a mistake. Because my daughter isn't a mistake. She might be a accident but not a mistake." Lexi said staring into her glass of orange tea. 

Renee began to cry, "Promise me you'll take care, take care of yourself and take care of her. If that's really what you feel is best, it's not my position to tell you how to parent. All that I ask is that you have the baby here. I at least want to see my grand baby. I'll call your father and make the arrangements. I love you Lexi-Bear" Renee said grabbing Lexi's hand. Lexi's tears dropped onto her mother's hand. 

"Thank you so much mom." Lexi said, she gave her mother's hand a kiss. She walked over to her sink and set the mug into it. She walked upstairs to her bedroom. She checked her phone, zero missed calls and zero text from Diego. 

"Hey you already know who it is. I just wanted to tell you that I don't need you. Your daughter doesn't need you. I hope you know that. I hope you know you pushed unconditional love away. You pushed family away, because you were scared. Your scared to be a father. You know what? I'm scared to be a mother, terrified but I can't be. I need to be there for her. It's not my job to make you feel unafraid, it's not my job to make you feel like a man. But I'd like to thank you for making me realize I'm strong, and giving me the best gift of all. My daughter. And in many years when she's taking another man to the daddy-daughter dance I hope you know. You had your chance. And you ran away, like the pathetic person you are. So go ahead go enjoy your life, while I raise the best person in the world. If you ever think of crawling back, remember your the one who ran away. Good luck" Lexi hung up on the call and deleted the number from her phone.

(eight months and three weeks pregnant )

"Congratulations Miss Swan! You have a healthy baby girl" The nurse said handing the small child to the sixteen year old. The girl was covered in sweat, her hair was a mess, mascara under her eye, glasses sitting on her nose. She held the baby tight to her chest. "Hey baby, it's mama. I'm your mama. I'm gonna give you everything" Lexi whispered to her baby. "What are you going to name her?" Renee asked her daughter. 

"Juliette Violet Martinez-Swan. Juliette after great-grandmother, Violet after your middle name." The new mom said holding onto her daughter. "My precious little Juliette" She said rocking the baby into her. Lexi fell in love with her daughter immediately. "Now get ready for the sleepless nights, poopy   diapers, all night tantrums, and spit up" Renee said kissing the girls forehead. Lexi laughed and said "It's all worth it for her" The little girl wrapped her fingers around her mothers pointer finger. Lexi smiled down at her. "I'm happy I had you"
