Chapter Nine

Lexi held her daughter as the nurse gave the infant her last shot of the day. "So the irregular sleeping is normal?" She asked for the third time. The nurse turned and rolled her eyes. Disposing of the needle. Juliette cried as her mother soothed her. "Yes Miss Swan it is completely normal." She mumbled before leaving the room to fetch the doctor.

"Rude" Lexi mumbled under her breathe. "You did ask the woman three times" Paul chuckled. "Well when the people you care about are sick you have a right to worry" Lexi replied almost cocky. Paul frowned and focused on the diagram of a child's ear that hung on the wall. Lexi put her baby in a blanket, she felt guilty for snapping at Paul but she didn't want to be seen as another girl he could just play and move on. She had two people to worry about.

"Paul I ha-" Doctor Cullen walked in. He stopped at the sight of the young shapeshifter in the room. "You must be Alexandria Swan. I'm well aquatinted with your father" He said shaking the young girls hand. "Yes sir, I'm sure you are since my sister is dating your son" Lexi said, she wasn't fond of Edward but his father seemed friendly. "Is this the child's father?" He asked looking at Paul who was still frowning, more so now because a vampire was so close to his imprint.

"No, her father is back in Arizona I'm afraid, Paul is just a friend ." Lexi said, the word friend sounded as an insult coming off of her tongue. "I see" Carlisle said. He could fee the strong connection Paul was feeling towards the young mom. "Are you having any concerns with Juliette?" He asked the mother taking the baby in his arms for a check up.

"She's not sleeping"

Lexi carried the baby to the car with the diaper bag on her arm. "Lex if you want I can carry something" Paul offered quietly. "I'm fine, I've been doing this on my own for three months. I don't need help now" Lexi spat out. "I wasn't saying you can to it by yourself, I just meant maybe you'd like help. You shouldn't be doing everything alone" Paul said reaching for the bag.
Lexi sighed and gave in and handed it to him right before they got to the car. "Happy now? You got to carry it a full three feet." Lexi said opening the door and locking her daughter into her seat. Paul sighed and sat the bag in the back seat on the other side of the baby.
The imprints got intro he car. As Lexi was going to turn the car on Paul stopped her hand. "What's wrong?" Paul asked. "What do you mean?" Lexi frowned her eyebrows and set her keys in the cup holder. "What's wrong? You're not acting like you" Paul said with a casually shrug. "Not acting like me? You have no idea how I act. You've known me for what three weeks? You don't even know my middle name" Paul sighed through his nose. "It'd Lynne, we've known each other most of our childhoods Alexandria" Paul laughed with stress. "Yes most of our childhoods, now I'm a mother. I need to be an adult, I don't have the kind of fun you do" Lexi said gripping the wheel until her fingers turned white.
"The kind of fun I have? What does that even mean?" Paul asked getting flustered with his imprint. "I can just go sleep around with whomever lands in my bed. I have responsibilities. So if that's all you want me from me get out of my car. Get out of my life, and get out of my daughters. Stay out of something you aren't going to finish" Lexi leaned across Paul with tears down her face. She opened the door for him. "Lex-" "No! Get the hell out of my car!" Lexi screamed. Her daughter began crying, Paul balled his fist and slammed the car door getting out. "Good luck finding someone to look after you with a baby attached to your hip" Paul screamed walking into the woods. The words he said weren't from him, but from the anger he had built in him all his life. Lexi gave her daughter a nook and cried in the car. She had no idea this was all a big miss understanding.
Her sister was the one to blame.
