The air was crisp and cold on the Hogwarts' grounds, each student wrapped in their House colours with scarves and gloves. The leaves were transitioning into a yellow-orange, like flakes of gold fluttering in the wind. Many students liked Autumn (Fall), it was a time to relax and talk to one another about how their break had been since starting on September 1st.

This was a chance for Gellert to catch up with his good friend Albus. They hadn't seen each other for the entire break, due to 'commitments' on Grindelwald's part. They were in year 5 now and would be having their O.W.L. exams. There was much dread amongst the students.

Gellert was able to spot Albus amongst the swarms of students in the corridors, each trying to remember their way around the castle. He grabbed him by the bicep before tugging him away from the mass of people.

They found themselves in an empty Transfiguration classroom. Albus embraced Gellert, grinning brightly as he gave a joyful chuckle. "Long time no see!" The brunette exclaimed, giving him a light pat on the back.

Grindelwald smirked back, nodding his head. "We have a lot of catching up to do." The blonde stated, raising his hand to the door, gesturing for Albus to go back outside.

The other boy shook his head, eyes locking on to the very light hair and pale complexion of Gellert. His fingers reached up and began to touch the near-white strands, "Your hair has gotten lighter," He uttered, then his stern gaze moved to his right eye. "Have you been practicing dark magic again?" He whispered accusingly, eyes wide with fear and worry.

Gellert rolled his eyes, "You need not worry my friend, I stopped that long ago, now come on, we have a feast to attend." With that the platinum-haired boy left, leaving Albus to follow in his tracks towards the Great Hall.

After their meal and speech from the Head Master, the boys went outside. They found the large tree which they typically sit at, near the Forbidden Forest. Gellert climbed up first onto a large branch before helping Albus.

"So how is Ariana?" The pale boy asked quietly, eyes serious and sympathetic.

"She's doing well, but I'd rather not talk about it Gellert." The boy retorted, conflicted eyes looking down.

Gellert nodded silently in return, mis-coloured eyes scanning the grounds as other students were seen going in and out of the gates. "I assume you're looking forward to these OWLs?" He asked with raised brows and a smirk.

"Well they are very important, they can determine whether—" The boy was beginning to ramble when Gellert shut his eyes and shook his head. He placed a hand over Albus' mouth, shushing him.

"Just- Stop talking." He spoke in a vexed tone, eyes snapping open as he removed his hand from his mouth. Albus crossed his arms over his chest stubbornly.

"Oooh look who it is, Albie and Gelly, sittin' in a tree, please do try and keep it PG this time?" Mocked the most annoying voice Gellert has ever heard. The voice of Priscilla Parkinson, the biggest bully of the year, and it didn't help that she was a fellow Slytherin like himself.

"Just leave us alone Priscilla." Albus sighed, looking down at the girl who had her hands on her hips, a sly smirk present on her lips. She was supported by two other equally bitchy girls.

"Or what Dumbledore? You gonna come down here and show me what you can do? Or are you going to turn out like your sister?" She questioned, earning a laugh from the other two.

Gellert was getting frustrated by this point. He had found it difficult to control his temper recently and this was not helping. He was just a bomb waiting to explode.

Albus tried to ignore them but she didn't stop. "Look at me, I'm Ariana Dumbledork, and I can't even protect myself from Muggles." She giggled at her own joke, a large pearly-white grin on her sun-kissed face.

Grindelwald began to grip his wand from the inside of his robes. His eye began to twitch and Albus noticed with a worried glance.

"Oh Merlin, she really was slow in the he—" Before she could finish the sentence, Gellert leapt down, wand drawn and one of the worst words came from his mouth like pure venom.

"Crucio." He spat, arm straight and eyes unwavering as he cast one of the Unforgivable Curses.

A short light of red shot out of his wand, hitting Priscilla in the abdomen. She immediately collapsed to the ground, curling over as she howled and screamed in pain.

Albus was quick to her side, trying to calm her down as he scolded Gellert. But the boy was in a different world. He looked down at his hand which held the wand, feeling as if it wasn't himself who had said the curse.

Students immediately gathered, each pair of eyes full of fear as they all whispered and exchanged looks. The girl was still screaming, gripping her arms as she extended her legs, squirming on the ground.

In a few seconds a teacher was on the scene, asking what had happened. It wasn't long before Grindelwald was dragged to the Head Master's Office, along with Albus quick on his heels.

Phineas Nigellus Black was known to be one of the less understanding Head Masters, but he did have a liking towards Pure-Bloods so that gave Gellert a bit of hope.

Once he was in the room the Head Master looked over his desk, dark hair covering the majority of his face as his large hat sat heavily on his head. "Where did you learn the curse Gellert?" He asked, leaning forward as Gellert slowly approached him.

"I-I found it Head Master, but I promise I won't do it again." He had a sincere look in his eyes, but the seated man shook his head.

"You have a temper boy, you sent that girl to the infirmary, in a matter of seconds," He sighed, rubbing his brows with his fingers.
Gellert stood quietly, wringing his hands in worry as the Head Master took a long pause. "You're expelled Gellert, I can't have that type of magic in this school, by Christmas you have to be gone." With that he picked up his quill and a floating book of student records landed on his desk. He wrote in a few words before slapping it shut.

Gellert was speechless. He didn't know what he'd do. His parents needed him to go to school so they wouldn't be arguing all the time, but now he is being forced to go home. He didn't know what they'd do.

Once he left the office, Albus was waiting outside. "So? What happened?" He asked eyes scanning his face for any sign of emotion.

"I've been expelled, I have to go by Christmas." He explained, teeth grinding off one another.

Dumbledore let out a sigh, shaking his head with slightly glazed over eyes. "Why did you do that Gellert? Why did you hurt that girl?" He questioned, knowing full well that he had learnt that dark magic over the summer break.

"I wasn't in control Albus, you have to believe me." His eyes were wide while he was begging for his friend to believe him, but his opinion wasn't going to change any time soon.

"You told me you hadn't been practising dark magic, you can't lie about those things Gellert."
He sighed, giving him one last look before walking away.

Gellert cursed angrily before storming off to his room to get his bag, he was going to get as far away from here as possible.
