Info: A familiar face shows up and Gellert is forced to revisit his past.-

It was a quiet day for Gellert, sitting in his study, reading a book whilst sipping on some sweet tea. Today was going to be blissful. His recruitment for members of his army was going well, with many joining from another one of his rallies. He believed he deserved a break, and that was today.
The sun beamed into the window of the narrow street house in Paris, causing the words in his book to glare back at him. He twisted slightly on the armchair, folding one leg over his knee as he flipped a page, sighing in content. Today was going to be a good day, he needed to let off some steam and breath for a moment. A day of relaxation would help clear his mind, so he has more room for important matters that needed to be dealt with. He was not one to stick to the past like a leech, he liked to forget things, as he knew no one could change the past, but he could certainly change the future. So that's what he liked to focus on, the future and not the pa—.
"Sir, you can't go in there!" He heard the voice of one of his acolytes, Vinda Rosier. She sounded panicked, which was unlike her usual reserved and cunning character.
He looked up from his book to the mahogany door where heavy and quick footsteps could be heard. They were determined and sounded as if there was not one ounce of fear in their body.
The steps stopped for a millisecond before the door to his study flew open, knocking the door off the back wall. An elderly man with a silver beard and frost white hair entered the room, head cast down to his waist as he fastened his wand to the inside of his jacket.
Gellert immediately perked in curiosity. His brows were raised and he leaned forward in the chair, placing his book onto a small coffee table. The old man looked familiar, but he couldn't quite pinpoint from where exactly.
But as soon as the man raised his head, his heart sank as his stomach twisted in knots. The man's steel blue eyes flashed in the light, causing Gellert to involuntarily shiver. His dark brows were arched, giving the impression that he was forever angry, which Gellert believed him to be. His crisp black suit sat snug on his well-aged frame as he took daring steps forward.
"Long time no see, Gellert." Claudius Grindelwald remarked, eyes scanning the room with ease as he examined his surroundings.
Gellert watched him intently, so many questions racing through his head at once. He wondered why his father would visit him? After not seeing him for nearly 30 years. Something must have happened?
"Aren't you going to say hello to your Father?" The bearded man asked, but Gellert could hear the subtle demand in his tone.
"What are you doing here?" He knew he may be stepping out of line, considering his Father was a very old-fashioned and disciplined man. He didn't care what happened though, Claudius couldn't do anything to him anymore, he was more powerful than before, and he wasn't afraid to prove it.
Claudius held back his tongue, jaw clenching in anger as he resisted the urge to curse his son. Luckily he refrained from doing so, and instead tapped his fingers against his jacket, where beneath he could feel the outline of his wand.
"Can a man not see how his only son is doing?" His lips tugged into a smirk, a carbon copy of Gellert's own smile.
"I'm fine, now leave." At this point the platinum haired man stood up, feet separated defensively as he placed a hand over his wand under his navy jacket.
"Where have all your manners gone to, boy?" Claudius retorted harshly, eyes burrowing in the other man's soul as his fiery orbs held behind them a burning rage, that Gellert knew oh to well.
Claudius Grindelwald was a short tempered man, easily irritable, which didn't help Gellert's troublesome and mischievous nature. There would be some days when Gellert was young where he would lock himself in his room, terrified of what his father would do. The man broke him down, made him feel weak and powerless, and some of those feelings still stuck with him to this day.
"They left with you a long time ago." He quipped back, mismatched eyes also holding a stern glare.
"You know it was for your own good? If I stayed you wouldn't have grown up as strong and powerful as you are today?" He smiled, almost looking proud.
Gellert knew he was just trying to play him, he must want something. He never makes compliments for nothing, it's as if his own body is incapable of love.
"You're right, because every second you were in my life you made me feel weak. So thank you daddy-dearest for leaving me, alone, with no parent or any family for that matter." Gellert's tone was filled with hatred for the man that stood before him.
The other man chuckled, shaking his head with a sickening grin. "You were such a needy child, you can never rely on people, Gellert. You have to do everything yourself, or nothing will be done," He walked towards a book case, turning his back to his son. "But now look at you. You made a name for yourself, you're powerful now." He added, brushing the tips of his fingers along the spine's of the books.
Gellert sighed, he thought he would have cherished the day his father gave him a compliment but now it just made him feel worse. "Why are you really here Claudius? I know it's not to give me empty praise?"
"I have a proposition for you," He twisted on his heel, walking back towards his son. "Let me join you, and we can both lead this army, side-by-side, as Father and Son?" He smiled as he held out his hand, ready to make the deal. "We can strike fear into the hearts of others? The Grindelwald family name can be powerful."
Gellert looked down to his Father's hand, before looking back up. "I thought I wanted that, but I realised now, that what I really want is for you to be out of my life, for good." He smirked as he watched fear quickly spread throughout the man's body.
His steel blue eyes widened as he retracted his hand. His hand slowly slid towards his wand but Gellert was quick to unsheathe his own and shook his head. "Ah, ah, ah," He pointed his finger at the man, a devious smirk stretching across his lips. "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Claudius stopped in his tracks, his breath catching in his throat. This wasn't supposed to happen. He was supposed to waltz in here, Gellert would join him instantly and he'd be powerful. Now he was feeling quite the opposite.
"Crucio." The word was quick and rolled off the dark wizard's his tongue smoothly. He had used the spell so often it was beginning to become mundane for him. He watched as his father fell to the floor, shouting and writhing. Gellert stepped closer, circling him as if he was prey, waiting to be snatched up by his claws.
His father began to desperately grasp at his trousers, veins around his neck and forehead beginning to bulge as he suddenly arched his back, hands clenched in fists. The spell soon began to wear off causing heavy, laboured breaths to escape sorely from Claudius' wind pipe.
"You deserve so much more pain, but I have better things to be doing. Goodbye Father." With that he cast the killing curse, watching as his father jolted before laying completely still.
Gellert let out a breath, smiling with satisfaction. He strode calmly back to his armchair, before sitting back down and picking up his book, finding the page where he had stopped.
