Raphael found himself unable to focus on the words that Simon was saying. He was most likely rambling in his dorky but adorable way, and yet the sound was being drowned out by that of his beating heart pumping the blood through his body.

Raphael was absolutely appalled by himself. He didn't want to be a monster - didn't want to look at the boy he was crushing on as nothing more than a piece of meat, and yet, he couldn't help it when his eyes became glued to the pulse point of Simon's neck.

Querido Dios, líbrame de mis pensamientos malvados. Por favor, Dios. Por favor.

It was no use. God couldn't hear him. It's not like he would listen to the desperate cries of a monster trying to escape himself. He was stuck with himself, with the wicked thoughts, the dark intense hunger, the fangs itching to reveal themselves, and the urge to make Simon his prey, ripping him apart and simply enjoying the glorious high of the feed.

Por favor, Dios. Por favor, hazlo parar.

But it didn't stop. He needed to escape. He needed to flee from the heartbeat drumming in his ears and the smell of the blood that so cruelly taunted him. He needed to leave.

"I️ have to go," he said suddenly, cutting Simon off mid sentence.

He should've been more composed as to not alarm Simon, but he just needed to go somewhere far away from the sounds and sights and smells that brought him the temptation to do bad things.

But Simon, being just a sweet clueless mundane, made a fatal mistake. When asking Raphael what was wrong, he gently grabbed his arm. He was so close. His blood was so close.

This completely shattered Raphael's resolve and he could not help himself from revealing his fangs and hissing at the other.

Simon quickly withdrew his hand, a look of horror painted across his face as he stepped back and away from the vampire. Raphael could see how petrified Simon was. He could almost smell it. Almost taste it.

Raphael should've left. He needed to leave, however, it was almost as if he'd lost all control of his limbs. Instead of speeding away from the mundane, he found himself charging at him in a flash, pinning him against the wall.

Perhaps if he wasn't so hungry and if he wasn't so intent on getting one thing Simon's screams would have stopped him.

Simon cried out and writhed in pain as the vampire's sharp teeth pierced his skin, but he still couldn't move as the other was far to strong to fight off. Instead, he just stood there, propped against the wall until the life was completely drained out of him.

Raphael stopped as soon as he felt Simon go completely limp. He faced a moment of panic, realizing what had happened. What he'd done.

He called out Simon's name, but he got no response. He also no longer could hear his heartbeat. His face was pale like Raphael's own and devoid of life. Simon was dead. Raphael had killed Simon. Raphael was a killer.

Even though he knew that Simon was dead, he couldn't bring himself to believe it. He continued to desperately call out his name.

Maia's eyes opened, causing her to squint at the early morning sun. Despite feeling dizzy, she managed to push herself into an upright position, allowing her to better examine her surroundings. As she did this, she felt the rustle of the fallen leaves below her. When she looked around, she realized that she had never made it out of the woods. She felt confused as to why she didn't remember the prior events. Yes, she had had a little bit to drink, but she hadn't been completely wasted or even anywhere near the point of blackout.
