Hey, guys! Hope you enjoy this chapter and happy reading!
"You fought well back there."
"E- Excuse me?" Jack did a double take when Galaxy was speaking to him. Since fighting the griffon three days ago, Galaxy hadn't spoken a word to him.
She nodded. "When you were fighting with the griffon. Your skill is impressive. Most knights would kill to have that kind of talent."
"Oh. Well thanks," Jack rubbed the back of his neck. "It's like what they say, 'Practice makes perfect'."
"It must have taken a lot of practice for you to be able to attain your level of mastery," Galaxy said.
"Well, I had a lot of time. Back when I first joined the knight academy, I didn't have anyone," Jack said. "When I was young, my family died."
Galaxy nodded. "So you know how it feels to lose loved ones."
"Yeah," Jack said quietly.
"My parents also died," Galaxy said.
"You don't have to tell me. Hannah told me already," Jack smiled gently at her. "You don't have to go through that pain again in retelling it."
"Ah, so Hannah told you about me," Galaxy said. "She's a good friend. Always was."
Jack smiled, looking at the blonde, who was talking with the other members. "You were lucky to have met her."
"Yes, I am very fortunate," Galaxy said. "After losing everything, I found someone who could give me a tiny spark of hope."
Jack nodded. They walked in silence, deep in their own thoughts.
"You know, Galaxy, no matter what you think of yourself, I think your powers are beautiful," Jack smiled at her. "Don't let anyone or anything tell you any different."
Galaxy stared at him for a long while, and for the first time since he's met her, she smiled back. "Thank you, Jack," she whispered. "Thank you for those kind words."
"It's no problem," he said. "Besides, that's what friends are supposed to do, right?"
Galaxy laughed softly. "Right."
"And one more thing," Jack said. He slowly and gently made her hood fall from her head, making him able to see her face. "You should come out from that hood more often. I'd like to see the real Galaxy once in a while."
She looked at him, her pale lavender eyes searching his face for any sign of ingenuity.
"I'm not going to hurt you like the people in the past have, Galaxy," Jack said softly. "None of us are."
She looked down then smiled back up at him. "I know you won't hurt me, Jack. I trust you."
Those words she had spoken filled Jack with happiness.
This is what a knight is supposed to do. Jack thought. They're supposed to bring strength to those who can't seem to find it. They're supposed to be the ray of hope when there's complete and total darkness. They're supposed to be selfless. That is a knight's true duty.
"You should protect her."
Galaxy's voice snapped him out of his thoughts. He looked at her in confusion. She nodded to Elsa, who was laughing with her sister.
"You said that you had nothing when you first joined the knight academy. But now you do," Galaxy said. "I see the way you look at her. It's like she's your light to your darkest times. And you should protect her and her light from any harm."
Jack looked back at Elsa. If anything happened to her, he would never forgive himself.
"Elsa is my everything. I'll make sure that nothing will happen to her. Even if it means risking my own life in order to do so," he said.
Galaxy nodded. "Good. Because you and I both know that we would do anything for the people we love. Anything to keep them out of harm's way."
"Hey, Galaxy!"
Anna's voice broke their conversation. They both looked back to Anna, who was waving at her.
"Hey, Galaxy! Can you show me that trick you did with your powers? The one you did with the flower?" Anna called out to her.
Jack and Galaxy looked at each other for a moment before chuckling.
"I think one of your fans is requesting you right now," Jack said.
"I believe you're right," Galaxy laughed, her eyes twinkling with what looked like a thousand stars.
"It was nice talking to you, Galaxy," he said.
Galaxy smiled. "It was nice talking to you too, Jack." She then went off to talk to Anna.
Jack looked back to the group and saw a smiling Hannah looking at him. She nodded and he grinned. It seemed like a silent understanding was met between them.
He smiled to himself, thinking about him and Galaxy's conversation. For the very first time, he had seen her open up, to express herself.
"Everything alright, Jack?"
Jack turned to see Elsa placing a hand on his shoulder, looking at him worriedly. He grinned at her.
"I've never been better," he said.
"I see you've broken through Galaxy's walls," Elsa said, smiling back to see Galaxy performing a trick with her powers for Anna, who was squealing with excitement.
"Yeah," Jack said. "It looks like we're getting to know each other a little more."
"That's good," Elsa said.
"Anything interesting come up when you were talking with the others?" Jack asked.
Elsa chuckled. "Well, Merida thought that Anna had a huge, hairy spider on her head. There was a lot of commotion going on. Hiccup almost had to take out his fire sword to kill it. It turned out to be just a bit of an abandoned bird's nest that must have fallen on her head."
Jack laughed. "That's Anna for you."
Elsa laughed along with him.
"Hey, Jack?" Hiccup called him.
Jack turned to see a confused Hiccup looking at something on his map.
He came close to Hiccup. "Yeah?"
"You might want to see this," Hiccup pointed to where he was staring at.
Jack looked at Hiccup quizzically before turning his head to where Hiccup was pointing. In front of him, the trees were cleared and he could see a busy village just a few miles away.
"Unbelievable," Jack said.
"I know," Hiccup nodded. "This village was supposed to have been destroyed by the Black Dragon."
"But it looks like there's still people there," Jack said. "Survivors."
AN: More interactions going between Jack and Galaxy, except this time it's more friendly. Thanks for reading and see you in the next chapter!
